It's all about habit formation. Changing consumer habits is like pushing water up hill.
MapQuest was first to market, so in most minds, it is still the de-facto 'direction finder thingy'....and agreed - Google Maps/Directions trumps MapQuest big time.
You couldn't tell, could you? For Christ's sake Zonk, TRY to be SOMEWHAT objective! I'm no Ford fanboy, but I've found them to be a bit more reliable than Chevrolet, and every bit as innovative as any other car company.
Seriously...all 28 of us are really happy you feel that way. We wouldn't want an asshat like in the Slackware brotherhood. Go play with your Mac, you lemming.
Is it just me, or does the 'Alternate Human' ...

...look suspiciously like the Flying Spaghetti Monster?
After reading TFA, this guy seems really good at pissing people off. If, once or twice, I had a Linux 'fanatic' go off on me, I'd blame it on the 'fanatic'. But 3 or 4 times? Geeze dude. You are just ANNOYING! I can imagine the title of your next article: 'Grocery Store Snobs: Bagging Barriers'.
Why can't both co-exist peacefully without constant 'Slash-Digging' at each other? I like both sites. I check them both quite frequently throughout the day? Can't we all just play nice? There's enough room for both Slashdot AND Digg!!
So let me get this straight....a couple of weeks after offering Opera activation codes for 'FREEEEE!', the turn around and negate their 'exclusive, one day only' offer by offering their product to any old schmuck? I feel so....common. *sigh*
I just checked out the MicroCenter Linspire offering. It is truly CRAPen boxen. Might run DSL well, but Linspire? Way to give the Linux n00b a bad first impression.
Affirmative! Here's a link from May of 2003.
Typical AOL - it took them a year and a half to do something with the technology, and meanwhile the whole browser arena has been turned on it's ear (shameless plug for Firefox)!
This is a step in the direction that I have been asserting (much to the chagrin of those who have to listen to my nerd-like ramblings) to all my friends and co-workers: "Soon, we will all be assigned IP addresses at birth". Now that, my friends, IS the future!
Totally agree. While cutting my teeth on Linux with Redhat 7 through 9, I grew my Linux skills, and eventually became disenchanted with the 'Microsoftness' of RedHat. After the whole Fedora mess, I started shopping for a new distro. Slack had intimidated me as a n00b, but I now find it quite comfortable, clean, easy to maintain and upgrade (swaret --upgrade -a !), and rock solid! Stable is a bit outdated for me, but I find current to be just the ticket for my continued learning curve in the Linux world. Thanks Linus! Thanks Patrick! Thanks Slackware!
Avoid traffic! Use pubic transportation instead!

I want my 5 minutes back!!! Sheesh.

...their Olympic gold medals for recording media!
I'd have to say, this '.ogg' link is a first. I'm shamed that I (or more precisely WMP) has nothing to play it with. Off to the CODEC mines!
As Bush would say: "It's new-cue-lur!"
...and so the weakness of computers is revealed: people and their presumption of perfection.

From the title of post, I thought Google had mapped all (college) graduates. Ya know, so they could offer them jobs before Micro$oft did?

Yes. What's the story Slashdot?

Geeze...Where are mod points when I need them!?!
Agreed. MAC address it is. But remember, SSN is only for Americans. The Hu-MAC needs to be global. Future 1. Humans 0.

The facts will ultimately show that [insert deity of your choice] has prior art on this patent - It's called the nervous system!
Bring this technology on! How long until some clever 6th grader figures out a way to stabilize the disk by applying clearcoat paint!
Now I'm interested! Knowing nothing about SysV (weeee! a n00b again!), could you give me any tips on getting/using this OS?
