Id have to say that this will kill.
I know that UMBC students alone could probably flood the place, but it will probably fill up to the point reservations are taken. If you don't believe me, look at the ESPN Zone in the Inner Harbor. It's a far worse experience for a much higher price (it's an arcade with atrocious rates). Not that it's the same market, but it shows that people definitely would pay.

Yeah, when I give people classes in basic survival skills, and they see my water purifier, they always ask if I could piss in it and drink it. This happens every time without fail.
Basically, the guy is spot on. When you are dehydrating, your body gets really stingy with water, and your urine will be only about 5% water. And yes, the other shit in the urine will require more water to process than you get from the processed urine.
All it needs is for audio to be transmitted wirelssly much like the Apple AirTunes gadget. It encrypts the data so that it will only be decoded if it is lossless. We have the bandwidth to do lossless audio wirelessly.
Are you kidding?
i2hub destoys anything BT has Movie-wise. Espescially considering how upload isn't a problem, and people share everything they have. And there's a guy with 200GB of movies on campus. And yes, downloading from UMASS or most other scools (depends on the school/time of day) is only limited by the fact that I only have a 10BaseT drop.
But that's a lot of work to do considering the sheer number of people on BT.
It's like the old joke about when you and a friend are being chased by a cheetah. You don't need to outrun the cheetah, you only need to outrun your friend.
If you are at a school that is an Internet 2 node, get on i2hub. It's only open to schools on I2, so the MPAA cannot get on to see what's going on. Additionally, d/l speeds are icredible, at about 300-400KB/sec.
I have fully moved to private networks like this, and my University's DC++ hub. I was shocked when i saw all these people at school using public networks like Kazaa (corrupted now) and Ares and BT.
Yeah, Peltiers are only about 5% efficient at best, which means they generate a whole fuckload more heat than they take away on the cold side. Water-cooled peltiers seem to work out pretty well.
If you're at an Internet 2 school, you are getting it off the Internet 2 link, so you're getting the firehose that is Internet 2 during off-peak hours.
And if you are at an Internet 2 school, may I suggest i2hub, for incredible file sharing bliss. I pull down movies in like 30 minutes.
RPI is one of the top participators on i2hub. At least few terabytes are shared by those guys, and download speed from them (Im at UMBC) range from 150kb/sec-500kb/sec.
Maybe it should just be done by ATI or NVIDIA, just a bare bones card that is completely open. It theoretically wouldn't cost them that much money (they already have fabs), and they can reuse and old design or some such thing like that.
However, they only have the support of 90% of stores. Kids will catch on pretty quick and start buying games there. Hell, before we were 18, my friends found out which gas stations didnt card for cigarettes and thus werent stopped.

Are you kidding, they'd be heroes!
Using a whole 747, when a shark is more than capable of wielding a laser of "frickin" spec....
This may sound like trolling, but whenever /.ers think something sucks, and write long posts about how people won't like it, it will be a big hit.
I see a few really long rants about blandness/lack of originality, so I am going to bet Halo 2 will break sales records.
Slashdot is not good at figuring out what is going to be popular. What's cool thouh is that it is so reliably wrong, you can set your watch by it.
My favorite examples:
Linux
iPod/iPod Mini
Windows
and now, Halo 2

Crime is crime. Kerry would support prosecuting violations of the law just as much as Bush would.

Ive said it before, and Ill say it again: World politics isn't a popularity contest.
Surprisingly enough, the domain( imgoingtokillthepresident.com) is still available!
And what about Zelda, the model that I dont think is actually named Zelda, but goes by that name?

Well, I am limited by the 10BaseT drop in my dorm :(

I have unlimited bandwidth at school, try me:
Skycutter Vid Link
I really want to piss off OIT, maybe even bring down the outbound router. Do your worst.
What's that in the sky?
Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
It looks....it looks like a lawn mower!
FUCK!!! IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US!!! DUCK!!!

Except that the light still needs to be kept a certain distance from the paper until it is fixed.
It's simple logic: The foe of my foe is my friend.
As a mountain biker, this looks like it would be fun for some good-ole-fashioned freeriding.
Some befed up suspension, wheels, and this thing would be an off road monster.
Conveniently enough, she's my ex-girlfriend from high school. Been there, done that.
