Actually, I know a girl whose parents bought her a nice computer for college. I was in her room, and saw the Media Center Sticker on her computer and asked her if she liked it. She had no idea what I was talking about. I still havent convinced her to set it up and use it as a TiVo.
So now I guess we need someone to buy one of these, get the adaptor, and then duct tape the phone to the camera to form some grandiose hack to get pictures straight to the internet no matter where you are.
It would be like an ultra-high end camera phone, but huge.
And the other benefit is that people will start getting rid of G4's to try to get a nice shiny new G5. Everyone who i thinking about a Powerbook, but can't quite justify it is waiting for the G5.
Yeah, if someone shows that they are immature, you should not reward them. They won't change at all. Maybe the company is just doing it for publicity/shareholders: We hire ex-hackers so that we can secure YOUR network, or some other bullshit marketing line.
Also, entice their imagination. Any kid who will be interested in tech probably is very inventive or has a good imagination already. Tell them about how all the businessmen basically failed at innovating, and it took a bunch of kids to change the computer industry, and bring about the PC revolution, and that they could be the next Steve Jobs, Woz, or (Gulp!) Bill Gates.
Unless you can think of some fetish not currently covered, dont bother getting into porn. The market is flooded, and it's a losing proposition.
Maybe tech support might work though, selling dedicated servers/turnkey sites may work though. Just like the goldrush, not much to be made mining for gold, but mining the miners is incredibly profitable.
Ever since I have got broadband (2 years ago), I definitely noticed my habits have changed. I have used the Internet for just about every piece of information because it is almost always there. I mapquest things instead of using a paper map. Internet phone books are faster than paper. Also, having an IM client on all the time is so convenient because at a glance, you can for the most part tell where all your friends are (via away messages and whatnot.) It's incredible how much the broadband and the internet in general has changed the way I do things, let alone other people and how it has benefitted them.
Last night some kid at the LAN party I was at came in at around 11 and was like: My dad won a Hugo!!
And I asked him about it, and apparently his dad wrote Legions in Time, which is apparently about a man and woman who travel through the galaxy or alternate worlds or something.
I guess good luck to that kids dad, and good luck to all those considered and those who won.
I wonder if a free single of the week in iTunes counts as a purchase, because if it does, Record companies will start giving away songs to get them up in the rankings.
Funny story....my roomates friend hooked up with Robert Norton's daughter over the weekend. He was telling us, and said "It would be pretty ironic if she gave me a virus." I was laughin for like 5 minutes solid.
VNC would be nice on a 10GbE setup. You could then have thin clients capable of doing everything, while a big clunky box handles heavy lifting, and it won't even need to be in your state/country/continent.
I am amazingly surprised that an HP Linux laptop would become a sleeper hit like this. I mean, I thought it wasn't going to get much press and that it would only be purchased by people who really want pre-installed Linux.

Just pop your license in the microwave. I think that kills RFID.
People who watch MTV typically don't think for themselves.
I always catch that on the Ocho, ESPN 8. Or you can catch the recaps in OSQ (Obscure Sports Quaterly).
At the frat party I was at last Friday, someone was bonging Sutter Home. I laughed my ass off, and then proceeded to hit Jager Bombs till mid morning.
Actually, they used a high power Xenon-Arc bulb that was focused down somewhat in order to blind the pilot.
That would be a pretty fucked up way of playing "telephone".

I heard that is because Shareaza is considered a leecher's client by Azereus, and thus Azureus will not share with Shareaza users.

Yeah, I don't think this kid is all too bright compared to a lot of other hackers. I mean, for one, he got caught.

What's even funnier:
but the notion that 'the DoD can also provide a sense of fiscal discipline when dealing with large, expensive programs'
ROFL!

Icredibly true.

As in Norton Utilities, Norton Anti-Virus.

Yeah, I didn't read the article until after I posted....sorry.
