Most people here don't buy software - they get it from edonkey/torrents anyway.
And this is an interesting point. I've always been amazed at the dollar figures the BSA gives out for the "value" of "pirated" software, avoiding the fact that a large percentage of these people would not have bought the legitimate copy anyway.
Exactly. And what this really is, is the BBC wanting people to write their code for them, sort of like free advertising: "here's all the brand names, write some inovative code because we don't want to spend the money to hire programmers..."
Parsing addresses is not as easy as all that, as not only do people type them all sorts of non-standard ways, but also cities use many different non-standard naming formulas. These things being so, Google does extremely well in figuring out the garbage that people type in.
And that's exactly my point - the State of California does not honor the right to contract.
Yes but he did not sign it in California, he signed it in Washington. He knew what he was signing. Moreover, he violated it, probably with Google's go-ahead and promise that they would litigate it and come to an eventual settlement with Microsoft.

What surprises me is that a photographer is not a Mac guy. All the photogs and other visual arts guys I know have always been Mac guys, not really for ideological reason, just because they always have been. Photo retouching at the big houses have always been done on Macs...
Do you know why America is going down the toilet? Crap like this. Fat pasty Americans sitting in their basements playing games while the Japanese and Indians march right by us. Right now, at least 65% of Slashdot readers are masturbating to porn instead of working.
Equally, freedom is rarely actually free of designer- imposed desires. Even in games with the most self-expressed mandates of "choice" for the gamer, it doesn't mean that there isn't a message
The day that the social Nazis start imposing political correctness (in other words, their opinions, their will) is the day that the final nail goes in the coffin of commercially produced games. This is just crap, games are built by people, why wouldn't they have an opinion, a view? Or would you like some bland politically correct pabulum instead?
The truth is that this type of tent show will sell, because for the average user, Linux is not there yet, and really does not, can not compeat with Win2k or WinXP desktop. Not for the AVERAGE USER.
they had me disconnected from the internet and put on an ISP blacklist.
The sad truth is that for the average person, it's just a waste of time to try to contact the proper authorities in cases like this. Most of the time, they will simply ignore you, so you have expanded time, energy, and perhaps money for absolutely nothing but aggravation. Delete and move on...
Isn't Drupal that drag queen? If I donate money, do I get a free account for the picture galleries? No, but seriously, Drupal is one of the more visible well written PHP applications, something to point at when the Perl freaks start blathering about how PHP is crap unfit for serious projects, and so on...
I had a very nice $600 pocket pc - the Cassiopeia. It was (and still is) a great device.
So, you gave up the superior device for your needs because of the Group Think? You are a sheep? If the Pocket PC suits your needs better, do you now find your productivity lower? Otherwise, maybe you only thought the PC was better? Do you really know what you think? Or are you a flavor of the day Socialist? Do you rent or own your house? I bet you rent.
There are indeed many OSS projects that have fragmented and become dead due to maintainer burnout. Mr. Louis Cyphre of JBoss (aren't those the people that "Astro-Turf" their products on various blogs like Slashdot?) may be an arrogant jackass, but in this case, while it's not what you communists want to hear, he may have a point.
You may imply what ever you wish, though you might suggest a hidden meaning if you where to infer instead. But if I where trying to read something into his user name, I'd be thinking more about methane.
Avoid Braindumps. You goals should be to learn not just pass the test.
In an ideal world, yes. But if the primary goal of obtaining a cert is to get a better position with a company that for whatever reason requires MS certs, than I see no problem at all with braindumps and cramming.
Everyone around here says that MS certs are worthless as indicators of practical knowledge, so why mess around with anything that is not designed to help you pass in the quickest possible way? Of course knowing what you are doing is a good idea, but that's not why most people study for MS certs, and I'm not even sure it's why companies require MS certs.
Unfortunately, yes, that is the best use for them. Today, to get a job in many places, these worthless certs are required. So why NOT cheat with testing aids? If these things are worthless as skill indicators but still needed to land a PAYING gig, than there is still value in having them.
...I want to make sure they're proprietary information is safe...
There - "There is something wrong with the grammar in the story."
Their - "It's their problem they don't know any better."
They're - "They're going to go down to the pub after installing Linux."
OK, point taken. What I _mean_ is that I'm amazed people buy it.

Sure, I understand this. But it seems to me like a lop-sided deal.

It's most likly because the line map is not actually made from the sat picture, which is rarely directly above the point you are looking at.
That's when you tell them: "It's the RED house in the middle of the block" or something...
Seems to work fine in IE. Does that mean it uses a different method for IE than Firefox, or it doesn't use transparent PNGs?

No. But remember that this is a Linux fanboy web site. Clear and rational thinking is not something touched on in the FAQ.
