This just in from Chicken Little- The Sky is Falling.
Isn't it amazing that now suddenly if they don't get control the whole thing is going to fail? Wonder how it has held up all of these years.
There really is no surprise here anyway. The closer we get to the alien invasion date, the more their willing accomplices here on Earth will have to do to cover up their approach.
I think M$ may actually be torn on this one. On one hand they would like to be able to ignore software patents (at least they would have been patented under the new system) as they have in the past. That way they can continue to assimilate any and all technologies into their OS that they think will benefit them. On the other hand they would like to be protected against others so that they can continue to enjoy their current OS monopoly (and yes I use Linux and have used MacOS in the past).
I have always thought most of the sentences handed down for drug crimes are completely out of whack as well. People convicted of marijuana possession seem to get more time than ones convicted of, what seems to me anyway, far more serious crimes. So why should fines being handed down by two separate departments make much sense when compared.
The more of this stuff that goes on, the more likely it is going to bring the big foot of the Federal Gov down on these people. It moves slow but when it does, it is going to hurt somebody.
Better than another companies business model, trying to sue your way into financial growth and success.

Wasn't there an article on/. recently about how this constant change is good.... companies will come and go. Consumer choice lessens to the point where they become dissatisfied, then a new company pops up. Its just during the squeeze times that things seem bleak. At least we have to hope these days of consolidation and limited choices is short lived.
I guess this is a result of the death of broadcast television. We seem to be seeing more and better shows being produced by "cable" channels. It looks like the death of one has brought life to a better era if this is any sign.
Well there just wasn't any graft to be made in stopping genocide. They liked the oil to food program because lots of cash ended up in everyone's pocket. Too bad none of it (or the promised food) went to the average Iraqi. Heck they even like helping refugees since get to throw a hump into the females. So now they see the possibility of siphoning off more money from the internet, why wouldn't they want to administer it.
Actually that may happen via the courts system. By their attempt to obfuscate what happened, they may have worsened the situation. I think they have worsened the legal difficulties they may have in the coming class action suit that is sure to come about.
And I don't think the public is going to be convinced one way or another as long as there appears to be such disagreement in the scientific community. I think the public has reached a point with the dueling experts (not just in this area, but in almost every area (look at court trials)) that they figure there is a group of scientists that will back any opinion out there depending on who is paying their bill. So they tend to just ignore all of them.
I can remember when my local B&N put those little cards out on the table "Wireless Internet Access". No I did not read the fine print. I anxiously took my laptop the next time in, and booted up....hmm I get a notice, you gotta pay to play. I then read the fine print on the card. Lap top goes back in the back. But woo hoo, we are getting a Panera Bread that opens in a few weeks. Time to dust off the old laptop and get ready to hit the town.

I can't wait to see you on #ubuntu and ask if dapper drake has been released yet ;-)
I thought Time Warner had done little but complain about the lemon they bought when they bought AOL out.
That would be almost as crazy as... oh, I dunno... Mercedes buying Chrysler ... oh wait a minute... never mind....
Perhaps they will rely upon their usual method of security ..... "damn, it just crashed my machine."
Next thing you know, they will discover anti-matter or photons or something really crazy like that.

At least they admit the Democrats are behind this obvious power grab.... what... oh demonstration.. never mind.

Before pointing that out, let's also point out that volcanic activity seems to effect the ozone layer as well.
That's for sure, look how well the Nigerians took to the internet ;-)

And hopefully there are people included in the problem high enough up on the food chain to make some actual legislative changes.

Mandrakesoft has acquired Conectiva, again.
Nothing for you to see here. Please move along.

What a sad empty life you must lead :)

if you pull your head out long enough to figure out that ... oops... you don't have to hand it over to the US. They invented it all to begin with.
