That's the fault of your phone, not a technical limitation. There are many scenarios where multiple pieces of software can read and write the same hardware.
I think you underestimate how much people hate having a room full of devices.
From your post you propose having: a computer (complete with screen and input devices), a television, a phone, a network media box, and whereever that network data storage is happening. That's 5 devices. That's a lot of shelf space, cords, and monetary investment. Mom hates setting that up and I hate setting it up for her.
I live in a pretty small place. I have a Wii for streaming netflix, a laptop, a phone, a tv. If I could take that down to a phone with HDMI/bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and a screen, I'd be really happy.
I think people also make more of battery issues than they are. Sure, my old dumbphone could go the better part of a week without recharging. However, my smart phone never dies unless I forget to charge it at night.
There things used to be alive. If they had dire consequences on X population, X wouldn't be here today. They went extinct extremely recently. As in still freezer fresh.
I'd hate life if I had to use the iphone keyboard for work related SSH. I've heard you can do swype now at least, but that's still not ideal for terminal usage.
Also, iSSH is $10 and last I checked there wasn't a free ssh client. I like my iPad but the app prices in general are just bizarre.
A year ago I would have agreed, it was the first 800x400 resolution phone, runs a more familiar linux, root out of the box, I was a big fanboy! However, that phone is getting a bit long in the tooth now.
The HTC G2 now is doing "4G" transfer speeds, has a much faster processor, way more ram, and lets be honest about the future of Android/marketplace vs maemo...
Connectbot is a pretty nice terminal application free on the market. You don't need to "jailbreak" to do anything the post is talking about, but if you do decide to install cyanogenmod (way cool project) or whatnot rooting android phones has been simplified to a one-click process.
I really did want to stay with Nokia but I haven't seen a compelling reason to in the past year!
19-10 kyu is a casual player. gnu go is 5 kyu, beyond the casual range, actually getting pretty close to a dan rating. A few months gets you within spitting distance of dan? Perhaps you haven't seen beginners play gnu go. The reputation of go engines seems stuck in the 90s while their gameplay isn't. Watch them play, especially against someone with less experience.
Computers play it well right now. It would take a beginner years of practice to rival gnu go and that is by no means the strongest one out there. The best engines are playing at 4 dan, or borderline pro, currently. Deep Blue isn't far off.
I don't get it. Social media sites should encourage users to not publish media? How does that make any sense? The fact remains that no more data is public and no privacy settings have changed. What you choose to share is up to you. You can't publish information about yourself then get upset when it's available to those with who you share it with.
So the fact that your friends volunteer more information is the fault of facebook? I'm all for privacy but crying foul on this is totally unwarranted. If you don't want to share where you live, then don't. Nothing has changed except the pretty-pretty. If you don't like how the new setup looks then don't opt in (unlike previous mandatory changes which did suck).
Actually it's the same information just arranged in a more aesthetic form. Advertisers aren't screen scraping, they had access to the same data before.
So I read that and checked. All of my privacy settings are exactly what they were before. What aspect are you referring to that is changed by accepting the profile upgrade? I don't see any?
You're not staying on topic. We're talking about your use of blatently incorrect talking points. Enlighten me as to your research that makes the Democratic party tax and spend. Correct me if I'm wrong but government spending and the national debt are inextricably linked.
He is what he is, another tax-and-spend Democrat with delusions of grandeur like all the rest of the Washington crowd, and we're getting precisely the leadership for which we cast our votes. I did my research, and had a pretty good idea how he was going to turn out, and alas, I was not wrong.
You sure did your research. For the past 30 years every Republican president has increased the debt while every Democrat has decreased it. Damn those tax and spending Democrats and their lowering of the national debt. Here's a clue: stop repeating unfounded talking points.
Actually I don't think we did ask. We were told they had weapons of mass destruction so therefor we had to do this. No one asked for it or wanted it and congress was replaced with the left because of it. I'm still waiting on said WMD's to surface.
Perhaps if there were more transparency the whole thing could have been avoided in the first place.
Why, slashdot, do you insist on posting article after article wrote by Al Gore and the global conspirators of Climate Gate. Clearly if just drill in the Arctic it will solve ALL of our environmental woes.
electric assist can easily carry lumber. If you need to move a couch, rent a truck. Renting a truck once or twice a year to move furniture is dirt cheap in comparison to fueling a vehicle that can on an every day basis. Cold? jacket. Hot? Stop being so damn fat. More than a few kms? See hot.
And if that is too pricey for you this will mount on any bike and carry said cargo in a much cheaper fashion. Lumber, groceries, and all.
Sure, large vehicles are handy but an enormous majority of the time our trips are a few kms or less and are not carrying any cargo. You may as well make the choice now before the cost of oil does it for you.

You know where picture 1 and picture 2 are? On the sdcard. Amazing how two things can access the same data.
Try again.
How did this get modded up?
There things used to be alive. If they had dire consequences on X population, X wouldn't be here today. They went extinct extremely recently. As in still freezer fresh.
In all fairness they would have a winning record by the time they won the Superbowl!
Seriously, a few poorly rendered concept drawings? There aren't words. There isn't anything to discuss here...
Timothy, have you been drinking?

Fuego playing 9x9 has a 5d rank on KGS, looks like 2k for 19x19. I'm pretty sure crazystone can also play that well.
It was crazystone that used a 9 stone handicap to beat a 9p player with a 9 stone handicap if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry, but there is an xkcd about rule 34. He is officially legit on this one.

Tor still exists, Slashdot didn't ruin the interwebs in China. Keep posting on stories you don't understand.
K2 is the real challenge these days. With enough money you can have your lazy ass dragged to the summit of Everest. Fitting.
We ask the pentagon to go to war
