What exactly is so horrible about saying that people ought to cooperate with police when you're questioned? He's saying people should not lie to the police, which isnt a right(how orwellian). He did not specifically include the fifth amendment, we shouldn't hold everything that this man says to be his legal interpretation or even his own personal beliefs. I have no question in my mind that Justice Scalia would uphold the fifth amendment. I may disagree with justice scalia on many issues, but i honestly do not believe that he would rewrite the constitution on the level you are insinuating.
Who else thinks that its a bad idea to have the keypad aligned horizontally instead of vertically. The way they have it you have to hold it like a game console to make a phone call, which makes it difficult to do while youre doing something else, and just a pain even during normal use. I know i would be irritated if i had to hold my phone with two hands whenever i dialed.

Used in this way, hydrogen peroxide is a monopropellant. Compared to a normal rocket engine that burns two different chemicals (a fuel and an oxidizer), a hydrogen-peroxide engine is very cool and relatively safe. It is also very easy to throttle.

If people really want to use it on an ipod, why dont they just get it off iTMS? If youre using an ipod, you are a lot more likely to use music mostly in a digital format.
It's probably what i'll end up doing.
Personally, i think this is sort of a shitty thing to have happen, but its not totally unreasonable. Its available in a different format and it not damaging to consumer's computers. If you don't like it, dont buy it, but i dont think this is on the level of some of the worse things the industry has done or considered doing.
Bibles? Yes, why don't we bring religion with us into space. It's done so much good here on Earth...
Grrr. You cannot posibly have any idea how angry i get when people blame violence on the existence of a religion. Violence always exists, regardless or religion. People will find something to fight over be it resources (land useful materials etc) worthless pretty resources (gold diamonds pearls whatever), abstract ideas (religion, honor, various codes of conduct, love). We couldnt possibly leave behind everything behind that people fight over. Religion in particular would be almost impossible to leave behind, as the gross majority of human beings believe in some sort of higher power, though slashdot will leave you to believe otherwise.
oh please, information doesn't want to be free, people want things FOR free. which isn't to say that what these people are doing is wrong, and that there aren't any communnities based around this. Information just happens to easy to "share" on the internet.
uh...how would it be expensive? In the article, it says a swab of the mouth when the criminal is booked. I agree there would be increased traffic at the lab, so they might have to slightly increase the staff. Or they could just weight certain samples in the queue, such as from violent crimes.
We need to find out if it's worth it to spend even more money on criminals, the wretched humans who should never have been born.
This doesn't even make any sense, the proposed expansion would work against criminals, not for them.
Is anyone else getting tired of this bullshit woe-is-me-life-is-pointless-nothing-can-change-bec ause-thats-the-way-the-world-is?
If your life is shitty, change it, do something about it. Shitty things have been happening to people for thousands of years, yet society moves on.
(i'm not just talking to people posting right here right now, this is more of a rant on society)
And yes, you're right, i am a middle class white kid from a good home who's only angst has been mostly self created. I say what i say because i have faith in people. I KNOW that people can change, no matter what their age or personality type. You just have to make the choice and stick to it, all the reasons people have to not change is just a story we make up. Examine almost any problem a person might have in their life and it usually comes down to the choice they have to make, and a story; maybe its what people might think or how hard something could be or actually is.
I just think we ought to give people more credit for their lives than we do, that its basically the luck of the draw with your social standing or personality type or their intelligence.
Huh.
The best i ever got was a form e-mail from Senator Kerry.
Shows how little it takes to impress "the little people" eh?
Though i was very impressed with my state senator who was in fact an intelligent man who understood the issues AND the basics of our 3 branch government system! Or am i being a bit cynical?
I'm on a couple of these "fax your representative and senators" alert systems now. I have two feelings on them, either they've opened a new avenue (or rather mass transport for an older one" for communicating with our public servants, or they will just further immunize our representatives from individual opinions.
You're right, i dont do alot of web research at the moment. Maybe i'll have to eventually, and maybe then i will switch to Firefox, but at the moment there's not really a good enough reason to switch.
I remember reading a slashdot arguement about the whole tabbed browsing/research thing, and i tried firefox again, but it still didnt go much above baseline for me.
Sure, there probably is, but why should i spend all that time looking through the plug-ins just to reproduce what IE already gives me? Honestly, i dont see that big of a difference in my page load times to make the switch. AND i'll probably run into compatibility issues later on that i'll have to spend time looking for solutions to anyways.
And the aesthetics of it are still there, frankly mozilla/firefox just looks kind of ugly to me.
It reminds me of the arguement my brother gives me to switch to Linux, because i can use Wine to play (most) of my games and i can probably get it to resemble windows in looks.
I don't see a reason to abandon what i already have.
The tabbed browsing i can see why would be a deal breaker, though i personally dont like it. (I prefer being able to access all my windows from the taskbar.
As for the vertical space, i don't see the big deal, i have one line for buttons+address bar, and one line for the google bar, though i could fit it all in to the first one, it feels too cramped for my personal taste.
No, now that you mention it, i didn't know about the new google bar for
And i dont really care for the way the favorites and history work.
Just an aesthetic issue, really.

I was under the impression that the hydrogen peroxide was the fuel itself, but i may be wrong.
Emphasis on "buy" or on "CDs", may i ask?
On the other hand, never mind, don't to be an accomplice.
Well thats true, but i meant that they should just buy it off iTunes in the first place, like i just did.

RTFA. There is a sticker on the CD that its copy protected.
What about the matrix tie ins?
totally punches new paradigm in the neck

Well, he probably was just assuming it was simple because the workaround was was done in a few hours, so it couldnt have been that hard.
But you know what they say about assuming...
Well, not to say that Macs are gaming machines, but Halo, UT2K4, and others.
So because a college is liberal, they fail to grasp some of the basic tenets of capitalism?
Did you mean liberal arts? Or just an entire school with a liberal slant all the way through?

Does anyone know if its possible to get this mod running on the demo of UT2K4? (this is for my cheap/stupid friends who dont have it yet)

How am i bashing it? I thought i was engaging in a discussion of the merits of a web browser?
Oh wait, i'm pro-"microsoft product X" so it must be bashing and/or flamebait. Like my original post.
And i have tried firefox and mozilla several times.
