I understand your comments, but the reason I believe it will help Mono and gnome, is not because of Novell experience, but simply because Novell has more funds to invest in full time programmers for those projects. That will make the development faster, if not better.
Hopefully, this will improve the development of the desktop Linux. Maybe we will see big improvements in this area, as Novell improves Gnome, causing KDE to also improve so that they dont lag behind.
Also, Mono will probably get major improvements, becoming a good.net alternative.
Thats exactly what I think. If they keep doing it, is because lots of people are buying their products. People that actually ear the phone call until the end, and buy their products... imagine that.
I have no problem with the USA. Its nota USA problem. Its a world technology problem. Today, its USA with IPv6, tomorrow is ome other country with some other technology.
Its not the same thing. Now, imagine if a better protocol than http came up. Imagine if we didnt change to this new one. Then, we would be stalling innovation
Its the kind of good enough mentality.
Well, I dont agree with that kind of mentality. Innovation and its implementation is stalled by this kind of mentality.
In simple terms, its a library of Java classes and JSP tags that do much of the work for you, including form validation, localization, templating, etc.
People keep innovating until technology is completely useless. Then they go back, and settle for the things that are usable.
This look like: I have a bigger xxx than you have!! Biggest car, biggest house, biggest whatever. But who needs a 200 room house if he lives alone? Some thing for laptops. Who needs 17" to carry around? You only need a screen that big in the office/home, and there, you could connect the laptop to a decent LCD monitor.
I guess what he meant was stuff like 3D surfing, and all that. But the point is, things eventually have what is needed. There is no point in having more than whats needed just because its new, and interesting. who cares for features that nobody will use?
In that respect, I believe the browsers are pretty well
I guess much of the success is due to Mandrake 9.1. I've been using it for some time now, and I believe it is the first good desktop Linux ever (good from the dumb user point of view).
Linux has just started to be really ready for the common user, and thats great!!!
Imagine teh present situation in Iraq. The war is "over", but right now, USA would like to have a system like that in order to control it better.
I believe it is more for occupation purposes. And of course, pos-war control.
Of course, one more USA measure to control the rest of the world.
The relation between USA and the rest of the world, is the same as the relation between Microsoft and the other software companies

As far as I'm concerned, good news.
Thats exactly what I think. If they keep doing it, is because lots of people are buying their products. People that actually ear the phone call until the end, and buy their products... imagine that.
Whats wrong with this people?!
Actually, they will probably get themself USELESS again, doing something like spam or door to door nagging.
Annoying ways of marketing will allways exist, they will just adapt, unfortunetly

This story allready appeared on Slashdot last week...
This happens with ink. How fortunate we are that other stuff for computers cant be sold the same way ink is.
Its a good strategy selling cheap hardware, and than charging huge amounts in the stuff needed to make the hardware function. Should this be illegal?
isn't "dual monitor", like, two words?
For me, the best is to come in LCD screens. Faster and cheaper LCD screens, and with better image quality. Now, thats what I call good news.
In simple terms, its a library of Java classes and JSP tags that do much of the work for you, including form validation, localization, templating, etc.
The next step: The 21" laptop.

OK, I'll concede on that.
