    Part of that is because the oreos sold overseas are made in a different factory and to a different recipe which is shit. The oreos sold in the US are made there. Overseas oreos are made in either Indonesia, China, Spain or India.

    US made oreos are delish but they cant beat the Tim Tam.

    Joined and disrupted the OpenGL foundation while coming out with DirectX
    Cried foul and for interoperability when MSN messenger was in its infancy (don't hear them calling for it now when they have top marketshare)
    Used their puppet SCO to attack Linux
    Used their puppet to turn the worlds biggest mobile phone maker into a factory for windows mobile
    Held back PC gaming so it doesn't make their 360 look bad
    Held back web development with their I-dont-even-follow-my-own-standards, exploit ridden, pop up galore browser
    Constant FUD campaigns
    Sends shills all over the web including slashdot to astroturf b.s.
    Their unsecure oses which led to a decade of malware and bsod woes for the casual computer user.
    Forcing people to pay for windows with their new computer even if they didnt want it. and punishing OEMs that shipped Linux or alternative browsers.
    Using undocumented api so their own software had an advantage over everyone else
    Paid Immersion for a 'license' on the condition that anything Immersion sued out of Sony, Microsoft would collect half.
    Taking out hardware sound
    Stupid shit like not properly closing off office macros viruses until Openoffice started taking off.
    Stifling the uptake of Beos which could boot from within windows and play multiple videos without lag.
    Trying to sue a kid for opening a website under his own name.
    Backstabbing Stac (before you microsoft shills go on about Stac reverse engineering dos code, go look at who got awarded the most in damages when it went to court)
    Backstabbing Sendo
    Making windows and other microsoft programs not work with DR DOS.
    Dethroning dominant programs via bundling with the os (eudora, winamp, netscape, aim/icq/ym
    bling using google's search results so that it looks like it is just as good.
    Doing a shitty job at blocking hotmail spam until gmail came along.
    Suing Casio for using Linux
    Collaborating with SEGA on the Dreamcast and then coming out with a rival console. The SEGA executive then moved to microsoft.

    So much worse miscrofot is. Google has a long long way to go to come anywhere close to microsofts trickery.

    oh btw I didn't have to do anything funky to get freenas or XBMC running on the proliant. All the drivers are self detected and installed. The only thing that doesnt work is standby. Something to do with the C1E. It would be so handy if pressing the power button turned off the machine instead of putting it into a sleep mode which it cant wake up from. Hopefully by certifying ubuntu, HP can work with the guys to fix this up.

    And it fits my needs exactly as a server running XBMC or freenas. I'm still waiting for v8 of freenas to leave beta and I will have a full features ZFS server running. I love how the drivebays are on rails and can be easily removed. When you're installing/reinsalling the OS it's so handy to be able to instantly pull out the drives so that you can't accidently wipe them out. By certifying ubuntu with the proliant perhaps HP can ship the os with the machine. It beats people turning to windows server because it is the only os they know.

    XBMC runs on ubuntu too.

    The cause of ICQ's downfall was that each subsequent version got bloatier and bloatier. MSN messenger now is bloaty too but when it first came out it was a very lean and practical messenger like google talk is now. Early versions of MSN messnger were good and didn't have any of the junk gimmicks, giving even people with knowledge of computers good reasons to jump over to it. MSN messengers crapware started around v4 as I recall but before that it was a decent im. ..that was back in the day when microsoft was complaining about there being ten billion im protocols and that they would support a standard. Once they had pole position they went awfully quiet about it.

    I would so mod you up if I could. Out of all the open source software that I have used and all the non open source stuff, clonezilla has got to win the cake for the most ghastly interface. Not only is it confusing and long winded but the fonts they have chosen has got to be the most awful that could only be topped if someone picked the disn3y font.

    I can't see whats wrong with this as this is a binary and not a website. Mame is ported to many OSs already and by porting it to chrome, it now works on any device that can run chrome. Websites are different though. They're public pages on the web and if they're only written to work in chrome then other browsers would be discriminated against. Chrome is also on windows, mac, linux, ios and android which basically covers everything. When ms was doing their activex shit, ie was only available on windows which meant if you didnt have windows you were SOL using the the website.

    Looks like it might be a good idea to turn off the WPS service if you can.

    If your router doesnt allow you to do that then in the LAN settings, block all ips not being used by your devices.

    You can listen to music, browse the internet (has html5 support), go on youtwitface, watch movies, read ebooks I guess. Basically the same stuff as a smartphone minus gps and phone features and in a bigger form factor but the gaming experience should be better. It runs a arm chip so I wouldnt be surprised if somebody manages port android to it like they've done with a ipod touch.

    Exactly. That is why the results of this devices sales will win/lose regardless how well mobile phones perform.

    With Sony having a foot in android phones as well it keeps them covered in both markets.

    For serious gaming there is nothing that beats tactile feedback from real buttons and controls. How many times have you played a FPS on a touchscreen and had to adjust the positioning of your thumb because its moved off the touch directional pad?

    I think that as toys makers get more and more safety conscious toys become less collectible because they dull the designs and take out features

    Take for example G1 Transformers - metal, mij, chrome, full length smokestacks. The same toy could never be sold today to kids even if they somehow could bring the price down.

    I feel sorry for my kids kids toys. It will be a glob of synthetic material which safety breaks down if ingested. It won't last more than 2 years though without decomposing itself.

    Run it in offline or online mode.

    OP was concerned about how he could play his games in 20 years time if steam disappears. My suggestion was he could back it up when its in offline mode and play that in 20 years time.

    In 20 years time though if steam was gone I think one of several things will happen:

    1. Steam will release the games under public pressure.
    2. You can rebuy these games at gog drm-free for $1 per bundle.
    3. Someone will run a virtual steam authentication service.
    4. Computers will be powerful enough to run in virtual mode an image of your steam games in offline mode.

    You can go into offline mode, backup your hard drive and run that image using virtualization in 20 years time.
