None to the average user but 10000megs allows Google to claim it has the largest free email storage space. guess they didn't like Lycos raining on their parade.:)
Can you show me any proof of that or are you just trolling? Check any dvd burning site and they will tell you the same thing. Sony just slaps its name on those drives.
The patch might already be available depending on the model you have. Many Sony drives aren't made by Sony but are rebadged drives. eg.
Sony DRU-110A = Ricoh MP-5120A Sony DRU-120A = Ricoh MP-5125A Sony DRU-530A = Optorite DD0401 Sony DW-U18A = Liteon SOHW-812S Sony DRU-700A = Liteon SOHW-832S Sony CRX225E =Liteon Sony CRX216E = Liteon Sony CRX185E1 = LiteOn Sony CRX215E1 = LiteOn Sony CRX210E1 = LiteOn Sony CRX195E = LiteOn Sony CRX1611 = LiteOn
The Liteon 812S and the 832S are almost the same drive - One burns dual layer and the other does not but the one that can't can be flashed up with the others firmware.
I feel sorry for those guys but in some ways it's kinda amusing...

proudclod (Staff) at 20:39, Tue 11 May 2004 Well, to be fair, the server's standing up all right, but the unpredictable spiky nature of the hits from/. makes watching our referrer logs more fun than it really should be.
There's a chance we might hit the SQL query limit we set for the main site at some point this hour, but I'll try to go in and fix that for now:)
What makes me sadder is that to this day the dreamcast is the only current gen console that has an official arcade stick. It came with internet browsing software, and everywhere dreamcasts were sold you could pick up an official keyboard and mouse as well which helped immensely in fps games... The Dreamcast was well ahead of its time. *sniff*
My favourites DC games are:
Illbleed Powerstone 2 Grandia 2 Le Mans Record of Lodoss Wars Looney Tunes Space Race >_> Rival Schools 2 and of course Soul Calibur
Even better, many dvd players, brand name or not, are region selectable with a few button presses on the remote or a firmware flash loaded off a burnt cd. Its cheaper for the manufacturers to use the same internals for dvd players sold all across the world, hence why many dvd players are pal and ntsc compatible. They don't bother to make different dvd players for different countries. They just put in a different power supply, set the region to the country its shipping to, box it and away it goes.
That, I would not mind. I have both java and shockwave flash disabled on my main browers (Firefox + Netscape) and only have it enabled on IE which my niece needs to use the Barbie and HelloKitty sites when she comes over. She doesn't surf anywhere else.
Mod me down down for this if you like but another reason I heard why EA wouldn't go with Xbox live was that the games would be centrally run on MS servers, giving MS access to collecting data on who played what EA Sports games, how long etc. This would be dangerous information for a company like EA to allow one of it's main competitors to get its hands on. I guess that now that MS has quit their sports line up EA no longer sees the threat of having MS have access to this data... or money talks.
I like that guys edge too, most notably at the part where he said "My bosses were not involved in the decision which license should be used for the Windows Installer XML toolset. I worked with members of the Shared Source Initiative team who understand the details of the various licenses available to share source code. They listened to my requirements and found that the CPL seemed most appropriate for the toolset."
and then "As the project administrator of the Windows Installer XML project, I consider it my primary responsibility to build a community focused improving the Windows Installer XML toolset. To create that community, the members must first trust that the project is going to continue. If someone doesn't yet trust that the Windows Installer XML project is going to continue but is still interested, then I would suggest he or she wait and watch. I've found the only way to build someone's trust is to continually demonstrate your good intentions and apologize for any mistakes you might make along the way. "
Not more evil but its something that doesnt really help the community that much (as there are plenty of good Win installers out there like Nullsoft's). at the same time it gives ms some volley to say 'hey we support open source too!'
I too have noticed where games have come out on all platforms simultaneously the pc version is usually the cheapest or equal priced with the GBA game. It kinda negates the argument that console gaming is cheaper. The hardware is cheaper, sure but if you buy a lot of games and they're multi platform, it all adds up (or down) over time.
when you're jogging, everytime your feet impacts with the ground it shakes the cdplayer but when you're biking you're rolling on the ground so its mostly smooth with little up/down movement... that is of course assuming he's not dirt bike riding.:)
you could always charge them a subscription fee similar to how gyms operate. eg. $x for 1 weeks play or 1 month etc. You just gotta calc the estimated avg time someone will spend on a machine and works out your running costs from there cuz the electronics will undoubtably wear out faster than gym equipment. make it too low and you wont cover expenses , make it too high and you wont be able to capture your intended market. hmm that is another thing, consoles aren't made for playing extended periods of time unlike arcade machines. arcade machines store their games in memory or on the hard drive. The disc drives are gonna need replacing before long and same with the controllers.. you'll need to reinforce the cords similar to the cords on public phones if you dont want to be replacing them all the time.
A cheap way for them to get others to make extra levels for them for free instead of making expansion packs to keep the interest up. Secondly its free advertisement cause sometimes these mod packs get distributed on game mags/sites etc. Thirdly it allows everyone to be happy when the game leaves out something that the fan wants. Don't like something? change it. miss something that was in the prequel? add it back! take for instance civ 3. When it first came out there were no engineer units but with a couple of changes to the config files and ripping the pic from civ 2 (or making your own), engineers were back. Microspose eventually put it back in in Gold edition but the ease of mdding the game meant fans didnt have to wait.
It didn't crash but a window popped up saying 'printing failed for some reason'. Clicked ok and everything was fine. Must be a new bug introduced. I wasn't game enoughto try it in 0.8 which I also have installed on this comp.:)

I remember that one of EA's dislikes about Xbox Live was the payment system. What have they worked out here?

Good to see he has a lot of confidence in OS.

"MGM has hired Lowry Digital to make 4K digital masters of nine James Bond films, including all of those starring Sean Connery."
Seems authorised to me. The other movies mentioned, are MGM productions as well.
Singing in the Rain
Casablanca (1942)
Once Upon a Time in the West (MGM/UA)

*sniff* thanks for the nostagia. I loved playing the billiards after shooting down some hogs. :)
I'm just happy to be able to play this game without needing to go to ebay or some p2p network. :)
Fire(bird) 0.61 running on Windows XP SP1.
