Apple and Sun will be gone by the end of the year. IBM will collapse under its own weight, Nintendo will be out of business any day now, BSD is dead....
Personally I don't do any work for anyone. 30s after I leave its going to have a problem again and they will try and argue that its my fault. I don't care how close of a friend they are, they're too much of a hassle when you do favors for them.
I play games that I like because I find them entertaining. What makes you think you have any place dictating to me what I play on my consoles. I enjoyed Chrono Cross. I also enjoyed playing FF4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and X-2 and am looking forward to trying 11. If Paper Mario was so good, why didn't it do better? Oh, thats right you have some stick up your ass causing you to hear voices that say 'Square is bad, Square is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.'
Did Square turn you down for a job? Maybe they refused to publish a game on your Rinoa/Selphie fanfic? You poor little baby.
name a game that Square-Enix makes that isn't FF. Got one? OK, now try and name one that's any good.
I don't care if you thought they were any good, but I enjoyed Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, what do I win.
Again, why don't you just accept and admit that you just don't like Final Fantasy instead of pretending that you have some amazing insight over people that play it. I play Final Fantasies for one reason, I enjoy them. I thought that was the whole reason for playing games.
Having Final Fantasy around is not somehow preventing the 'evolution' of console RPG's, it doesn't stop anyone from making something else. Square makes them for one reason, they make money, and they make money because of one thing, people want to play them.
They are exactly the same game in the same way that every RPG is exactly the same game, every racing game is exactly the same game, every RTS is exactly the same game, every FSP is exactly the same game and every game is exactly the same game as every other game in its genre. If you don't like Final Fantasy, just say it.
BTW, there have been over 18 games to carry the title Final Fantasy, 1-11, X-2, Tactics, Tactics advance, Crystal Chronicals, and I believe there were 3 FF: Mystic Quest games. There was no random jump to 7, there really were 1-6 in Japan, but only 3 were released in English until the few re-releases for the Playstation.
Excepting that with the exception of Final Fantasy X-2 each of the FF games are original games and not sequals, well almost. They all have many things in common, but FF is almost a genre of its own. Its like saying this one game is a space combat game, but that doesn't make it a sequal to X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter or that it is going to be any less original then X-Com, or soemthing like that, it just means that its a game that has combat in space. Saying a game is a FF game, just means that it has some features that are in other FF games.
what kind of modern linux distribution doesn't include GNOME? One that has recognized the quality that has come out of another project that provides the same desktop. Pat decided that Dropline was so nice, and there were so many people using Dropline Gnome that it wasn't worth his time anymore to package a vanilla Gnome.
Well considering RMS has declared Debian as not falling in line with the pure GNU philosophy by providing closed apps, I would say that he would be one of the worst people to head up the project.
Use WindowMaker before you bash it. It really is a nice environment. The colours need a little work though. If I wasn't using SuperKaramba, I would probably use WindowMaker as my window manager in KDE.
Linux based systems make a huge amount of money. Those same people who simply are looking at making money now see something else that is and they want in. So they'll start up a sourceforge project with their totally great idea and then find out how hard it really is. Since making money is not much of a motivator in the face of actual work, you end up with "This project has released no files."
Money is the wrong reason to do anything that requires hard work and dedication.
NeXT is no more BSD Unix based or descended from then OS X is based or descended from FreeBSD. NeXT was a commercial implementation of the Mach kernel from CMU. Now like Linux, Mach was just a kernel, and in places an incomplete one. In the spirit that BSD Unix was distributed with, instead of waiting to make an entire OS, when they wanted to show this new-fangled micro-kernel they had created, they ported some Userland tools, and later tacked on some networking from BSD Unix and showed it off. NeXT takes that reference and makes it better, a better desktop, nice programming tools and many new utilities, at the same time as updating the system from its original sources. Apple acquires NeXT and begins to make the NeXT parts better, and once again updates the Unix sources. Neither descended from Unix, they just make use of it in certain areas of the system.
Does anyone stop to think that not everyone is making linux distros to take over the world and impose their view of what a desktop should be on every other computer user. Linux isn't the be all and end all. Its not even the ultimate for everyone who considers themselves an IT professional, what makes you think that it is good for everyone to have one distro, and only one distro.
EA treated games like a legitimate business when very few did, and they fostered the development of some amazing games by some extreemly creative people and by that they laid the foundation of a games industry. Yes I believe he does deserve a place there. It would be more like making the 4th person in a sports hall of fame the owner who first allowed a minority to play on a team. It would have shown forsight that changed the face of the game. EA showed enough forsight to provide an atmosphere where great games could be made while handling the business side of things so that those games found their way into the hands of the intended audience.
Capitalizing Open Source was an attempt to create a trademark that they could stamp on things to place themselves as an authority on open source, however it is simply a discriptive phrase and has long been used to describe access to the source code.
I had no idea that simply changing the case of two letters allowed you to coin a phrase that has been in use for some time to describe the exact same thing. Perhaps I'll open a fast food place, and create a burger with TwO aLL bEEf PattIES and claim that I coined the term TwO aLL bEEf PattIES making me lord over all things hamburgers.
No they didn't and yes the phrase existed before the OSI was founded and it was not limited to software.
1992 1991 1990 Speaking about BSD's open source policy
It also has a large amount of use relating to the access of Intellegence information. The OSI simply used a common term relating to source code that is accessable, they did not coin the term and in no way have any way to justify any claims regarding ownership or oversight of it, it is simply a discriptive phrase.
Personally, and obiously this whole ask slashdot is personal experiences, when I first tried a BSD I tried Open and Free on different machines at the same time, and I still run both, along side XP, 2000, ArchLinux, Slackware and Debian and eventually Solaris. For firewalls I would never choose anything other then OpenBSD (Carp is very interesting), but if I were to choose one to standardize everything on, it would be FreeBSD since I feel it is the more balenced of the ones I have tried.
Apple and Sun will be gone by the end of the year. IBM will collapse under its own weight, Nintendo will be out of business any day now, BSD is dead....
Same crap, different company.
Prince of Persia started on a more worthy platform then DOS. It was an Apple II title.
What about the other part of your roof?

And this is different from any other government how?
Turn the heat off. Why run a furnace and a P4 or Athalon and heat the house when the processer will do both. You'll save on energy costs too.

They're too dangerous to talk about.

SuperKarambas transparencies are only supported with kwin.

Why? I mean this, I really would like to know.
I've never seen paypal advertize or do anything to con or convince net users of anything. So wouldn't it be that it's really sad to see stupid people?
Not yet. Google God is still in the labs, but I assume that it should move to Beta soon.

There is already a BSD like that. Its called FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD or DragonflyBSD.
