Well, it does run on the Palm platform, and therefore you're able to run all Palm programs. I don't know what platform the Nokia 9110 runs on, but I'm pretty sure it's not the Palm.
Anyway, both the pdQ & the 9110 are bulky machines, I'd prefer to have a separate Handspring & Qualcomm thin phone like someone suggested below.
The reason I ever fill up a shopping cart & leave it behind, is so that I can get the total price. A lot of websites fail to tell you the *total* price (that is, including shipping), until you're ready to plop down a credit card. (some even require you to put down all info before they give you the total price. needless to say, i dont come back.)
should one buy the first generatin of the geforce 256 cards? seeing how more than one manufactorer has a license to use the geforce, will it be more optimized in future versions?
These aren't (that) new. I've seen ads for them (a month or two ago, can't remember the magazine).
In fact, in my Algorithms & Programming class ("Comp Sci for Comp Sci majors") they have 2 of these. It's quite a waste, for a room not that large, they have 2 front projection screens, 15" LCDs on every table (for a total of 12), and these 2 50" Pioneer LCDs.. and all they display is the MS PowerPoint presentation featuring the notes of the day. What a waste. (RPI, in Troy, NY if you're interested).
With cell phone technology getting better almost daily, I personally would rather not have a cell phone built in.
I don't remember who said it (and I'm too lazy to search) but there was a comment in a previous article about mating the Palm with a pager. I think I would rather have this. Logs of when people paged, what time, alphanumeric abilities, the whole nine.
I was thinking, with current technology its not quite possible (to my knowledge) to have both color & a long battery life. Perhaps there could be a switch to change from color to grayscale? Is this possible?
Another thought: does anyone have any links to teach me about wireless ethernet? I was thinking that a wireless ethernet on campus (http://www.rpi.edu/) would be wonderful.
For those of you who don't know me, I also work under the name "Anonymous Coward". For all those constructive posts I submitted for the Jane's article, I'm willing to accept the money (that's rightfully mine, of course).:)
That is to say, Sledgehammer is only the code name for the Processor. AMD still has the chance of screwing up the name. Hopefully they won't, but they did come up with "Athlon"...
Are the people who are hit by slashdots HREF gun warned ahead of time? I wouldn't expect slashdot to give warning for breaking news from CNN or News.com, but for these non-urgent posts, it could help the people who run the website. I would think the people running the zorb.com are bemoaning the fact they didn't get up ordering info to take advantage of thousands of pageviews by drooling geeks. Plus, they would have the added benefit of trying to make their websites slashdot-effect proof.
My high school (where I graduated from a couple months back) bought a bunch of eMates for the English classes. Whenever we had to write a paper for Creative Writing or College Composition (basically one every two weeks) we got access to our own individual eMates to type our papers up.
They were little green mini-laptops, small hard drives, simple operating system, black & white touch screen (eliminating the need for a mouse) that was fine for just typing. We would connect to the printer by hand (physically plugging it in) and then print.
I didn't mind them, they were fine for just typing, but not much else. They had a typing program, a drawing program, and thats about it. Must have been pretty cheap for the school.
Oh, the government is helping? What for? Oh, "support... from several U.S. government agencies, including the National Security Agency (NSA)." The NSA, eh?
"In addition to critical government applications..."... this doesn't sound good.

How high speed is "high speed" in this case? I don't know anything about how much bandwith streaming video / audio (especially high quality) would take. It has to be high enough quality to be able to see whats on the overhead projecter or whatever.

A little hypocracy?

It reminds me of the Steven King (under the alias Richard Bachman) book "The Running Man" (Excuse me, I never watched the movie).
The idea is, TV Game shows have to get more violent and more shocking to retain viewers. Is this the first step?
Scary.

Lets get these out of the way, cuz we all know they'll be asked/said.
- "F1RZT!"
- "Do these run linux?"
- "WOW! Imagine a Beowulf cluster of THESE!"
What am I missing? I just want these out of the way, so moderators can at least label the rest as "redundant."
The "Swiss Army Knife" market has been split between Victorinox & Wenger.
Victorinox markets the "Original Swiss Army Knife" (i.e. they once upon a time made the official Swiss Army Knife).
Wenger markets the "Genuine Swiss Army Knife" (i.e. they currently make the official Swiss Army Knife (is there really such a thing?)).

Uh oh. Once upon a time I submitted a "First Post"... I'm sorry, I apologize.
Hehe, Imagine all those "first-post"ers get denied gainful employment due to "lack of maturity".
A few months ago the rule of thumb was a buck (US$) a meg (MB). Now it's easily $2 a meg, and in some cases $3.
Maybe this is Sony's way of justifying the (expected) high price (compared to other consoles) of the PSX2.
"It's not an expensive game console, it's an inexpensive graphics workstation."

*Hopefully*. Based on the plethora of mergers they've allowed, I'm not so sure...
I think his point was just amazement that it (supposedly) took a mere 12,us, not that he didn't understand prefixes.
The only problem in your argument is... You assume that the U.S. Government will act logically. *bzzzt* try again.

This guy put a Webcam, laptop, and cellular modem in his taxi. Since it runs 24/7, I'm sure that his cell phone bill is through the roof.

The opposite. The curfew is that kids CAN'T use the net 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.. That way, they won't skip school to hang out in internet cafe's.
