Thanks for the replies everyone (you, the AC, and jZnat). A quick test of the suggestions didn't seem to help, but I'm possibly missing something. I'll have a look at it again tomorrow when I'm not completely wasted;)
In non-ADHD subjects, Ritalin and Adderall are similar to methamphetamine in function. In normal individuals, they cause rapid increase in dopamine, just like amphetamines do.
Since we're talking about CSS anyway, maybe somebody could explain to me what happens in IE with the following CSS:
div#left {width: 4em; height: 1.5em; float: left;}
div#right {width: auto; height: 1.5em;}
IE renders them next to each other and on the same line (as intended), but there's a ~4 pixel gap between these two boxes. I checked margins and borders, that's not the problem. To fix it, I placed these two into another div with the background, but that for some reason seems to screw up Opera/Firefox. This wasn't hard to deal with since I generate the pages with perl cgi, but I don't like the unnecessary complication. I did look through a lot of IE-specific CSS bugs, but couldn't find anything. Maybe it's a feature and not a bug, in which case I still need to get it to render the way I want it to. Thanks.
Interview? There's a whole book (5-volume trilogy?) waiting to be written about the whole process. Really, I won't be surprised if it would be included with the Collectors' Edition version.
Then, there's Steve Vai, but his Giant Balls are instrumental.

I can't mod you up because I don't have any mod points, but I agree that I preferred the old one.
To keep this at least somewhat on topic, the table with the book information seems to have 0 margins/padding, making it a little ugly/difficult to read.
Sorry for yet more offtopic, but does anyone have the previous slashdot stylesheets saved or cached somewhere? I did anticipate the need for them, but I thought somebody would surely post them in the official "design changed today" story, and I certainly didn't expect the change to happen so soon. Having the real ones would be an improvement over trying to hack something together from the slashcode base and alternative stylesheets.
Becuase America is the only place that has this "Internet" right?
No, of course not. But I don't think a lot of Europeans would be streaming it when they can just watch it on TV or in a pub, or go to see it live. Most sov^H^H^Hex-USSR countries don't have accessible (price/availability) broadband to make video streaming common. I'm not sure about the situation in South America, but I am sure the football culture means that they'll have good TV coverage. This leaves the developed eastern countries, where Korea is the only one to express interest in football. And then, there's Africa... I don't think it's necessary to comment on this one.
(infact I actually got a copy of Metriod Prime 2 free from nintendo) and they have given me easily over 20 hours and counting.
As somebody said in the Sin thread, you can also play solitaire for 50 (or even 500) hours for the price of the cards.
As Zonk said, the commentary mode adds a lot to the replayability, making 10 hours of fun as opposed to 5 hours of fun and 5 hours of filler you'd have with some other games. I didn't find the comments as interesting as the ones in Riddick, but they revealed a lot about the game making process and actually pointed me to a few interesting gameplay moments I didn't notice the first time.
Still, the question of value is different for everyone depending on the budget and/or *cough* bandwidth, so I'm not saying that everyone would find it reasonable to pay $20 for this game.
yeah, my torrent also got stuck about halfway through, when all the seeds suddenly disappeared. Thankfully though, everything went back to normal an hour or so later. Oh, you mean downloading it from Steam...
Has anyone tried double-clicking the left-hand sidebar headings? "Help", "Stories", etc? Watch the triangles!
Yes, here's a screenshot. Nothing serious, but still a bug. And is it just me, or the sidebar state isn't tracked, and gets reset on every reload? Makes the whole idea pretty useless, unless there's a setting somewhere in preferences which would collapse them by default.
I don't. I just got my morning slashdot fix, and my eyes already hurt. While all the main/. elements are here, the overall look is quite generic "2.0". I also agree with most criticism regarding typography and colors/contrast in this thread. Did I mention the comment scores on the right? Ahr!

FARK DOT COM!
ahm, never mind.

Because everybody's using WIMP:

Hey Al, shouldn't you be outside looking for manbearpig?

;)
No you/he won't
hl2.exe -steam -game episodic
There won't be much streaming going on since most Americans don't know what this whole "World Cup" thing is about.
You're right of course, I should've used parenthesis.

Although it might cost a little more, I'm sure this guy would be much more effective.

I hope it isn't this ultimate man-tool they're now missing. Because without it, how would they cut off all those useless four inch antennas?

> Can they quantify "power" of a graphics processor to one place of decimals?
Yep. If the old chip used 10W and the new one requires 25W, that's 2.5 times more "powerful".
I've ran an FTP server on my PDA for a while, but decided to shut it down when everyone just kept leeching and not uploading any warez or pr0n.
Is mod_perl available for Nokia's Apache?
