Goal next year ... well the republicans are obviously going to put up some horrendous evil, and your goal will be to keep Kerry in office. That, or Kerry will prove himself to be Bush-Lite, and your primary goal will be to get him out of office ... and so the cycle continues.

Wake up dude. Me, or anyone else voting for a third party does not contribute to Bush staying in office. The 50% or so of all voters that VOTE FOR BUSH are the ones that put/are keeping him in office. Go talk to them instead of redirecting your frustration at people who obviously also believe that Bush shouldn't be in office.

Yeah, but unlike MMORPGs, this you pay a flat fee for. It doesn't matter how many games you get, if they are live compatable and dont have a seperate fee ( like MMORPGs ), you are good to go. Currently I only own two live enabled games. If I were to go buy a third, my fee would not increase, and the game would just work.

So, not quite the same. Far better, in fact.

Up here in Wisconsin, we have a few public wifi hotspots that are free to access. With the windows firewall, I dont have to worry about intrusions even when cruising on these open networks.

XBOX's advantage is Live. I have all 3 consoles, and I can say without a doubt that they have the online thing down. PS2 is in second, and a somewhat distant second at that. Nintendo is barely a blip on the radar - which is unfortunate. It is also unfortunate that Nintendo doesn't seem to see reason to persue online play for future games/consoles, since its a great way for people like me without a lot of local opponents to actually get some enjoyment out of primarily multiplayer games like fighters.

Not really. The firewall is enabled by default now, but you can turn it off - and its pretty darn easy to do so. In addition, the extra security IS what people have wanted.

The microsoft knowledge base is also pretty good at letting you know what ports you need to open to get things to work. I just randomly checked what ports Outlook wants open, for instance, and the microsoft support article was the #1 hit on google.

I dont know about this one. I used to think this way, but Halo on the XBOX is pretty darn good as far as the control schema goes. It took me a few hours worth of gameplay to get used to, but once the break in period was over I was convinced it was pretty much just as good as the keyboard and mouse - well for Halo anyway.

most gamer kids just don't have that

Yet somehow these same gamer kids can afford the hardware needed to run Doom 3. There is a difference between not having the money, and simply not being willing to spend it.

If Id and Activision would sell it for $29.95, their sales would probably increase 500 to 700 percent. Overpricing because of greed will be the kiss of death.

And this gets modded up as insightful somehow ... please tell me where you get these numbers from. One of your own orifices will not suffice as a source, btw. The argument goes both ways as well ... if more people would buy the game then companies wouldn't have to hike the price up to maintain their profit margins. Additionally - assuming the price derives from greed is just that, an assumption. Have you considered the long development cycle, and that perhaps paying their programmers and support staff for the extra year or two ( in comparison to other games ) might be the reason for the increased price, in addition to the need to compensate for piracy?
