"The first bombshell to hit my project was that my client found out from another consultant that the GNU community has close
ties to former communist leaders. Furthermore, he found out that the 'x' in Linux was a tribute to the former Communist
philosopher, Karl Marx, whose name also ends in 'x'"
Ah, that's what it stands for. Maybe we should call it Liner, no- Hitler's name ends with an 'r'. Or Lineo, rats- I forgot about Castro. What a load of tripe.
You hit the nail on the head. The problem today is that more and more kids are not taught that they will have to answer for their actions. When I was young, I knew that when I screwed up I was going to have to face my father- which might just entail a whipping. To those of you out there that think paddling damages a kid, you are wrong. Let me clarify something- there is a big difference between a paddling and a beating. At no time in my life have I ever been scared of my dad, but I sure as hell respected him.
As a parent, you need to teach your kids right from wrong, and that a price may be paid for you wrongs. They need to learn how to respect others and their opinions, even if they differ from yours. If you bring your child up in a sound, moral environment then they will learn to know the difference between real life and fiction. Parenting is a big responsibility, and unfortunately it seems like more and more people are not willing to take the time to do it right. It's just too easy to blame someone else.
"Ridgway remembers where he dumped bodies, how he planned his killings and tricked people into his traps, the descriptions of his many cars, and the floor plans of his several homes. He doesn't remember the faces or names of the 48 victims he admitted killing.
In his words, "Like I said, they didn't mean anything to me."
He killed only women. He killed no men, he said, " 'cause they didn't give no sexual gratification to me." "
Funny how these serial killers are never identified as demented game players. Was Ridgeway into video games, not that the news has reported. How about Dahmer? Maybe we as a country out to realize that we need to stop blaming everybody else and raise our children right. Good parenting and a safe home environment goes a long way to preventing your child from becoming a blood thirsty killer.
I'd love to submit an insightful post on why most people are able to differentiate between game violence and the real thing, but I've got to go clean my guns.
"How would it resist the inertial force of a 200lb person being thrown forwards?"
Have you ever tried to upset a big gyroscope spinning at very high RPMs? Not easy to do, that is why the are used in aircraft inertial navigational systems.
In my opinion, it looks pretty cool- maybe it's just because it's different. I like the hydrogen fuel cell, too bad it's just a concept vehicle. Probably won't go anywhere, some oil company will probably just buy the patent and shitcan it.
Disney does a good job of taking an old story, ie Hunchback of Notre Dame, and totally screwing the story line and feel. If the story line is a little dark, or doesn't have a "feel good" quality about it they just change it so it does. Pixar avoids this by coming up with original story lines.

"So if you are thinking of betting your business on Linux software, you had better think it over carefully, because if SCO should win, Linux
will be out of business."
And just exactly which "Linux" will be out of business? Redhat? Suse? Mandrake? Sure, these are organized entities that put out a distrubution. But how do you put "Linux" out of business?
Since you don't seem to get this site, and the people that frequent it, let me explain to you why you got modded down. It was not because you FP'ed, it is because you asked "Why". In the tech world, as in every facet of life, there is sometimes a desire to be "silly" and be reminded of a time when everything seemed to be simpler. Some do this by obtaining toys they loved to play with in their childhood, some watch classic TV, and some do senseless (in your opinion) things like make an obsolete technology useful again. Just my take on it.
Government intervention unlikely- after all, most politicians have already been bought by major corporations. How do you think Microsoft gets away with not living up to the rulings against it?
I wish the would have determined its resistivity to radio waves, If the twinkie resists radio waves as well as it does electricity. Then I could replace my tin foil hat.
Well put. Just like in 1984, Emanual Goldstein's book said that if you kept the country in a perpetual state of war, and thus the citizens in a constant state of fear, the govt can do whatever it wants. We got the Two Minute Hates going on a small scale (the USA against anyone who doesn't agree with us). All the govt needs now is another major terrorist strike, then you will really see the Bush administration grab hold.
I would pay a good price for the nostalgia.

How do you think I feel? I live in Texas.
It might be cheaper, but poor quality control tends to go hand in hand with cheap labor.

my favorite would have to be the snorkel fm radio. Of course, the wet babe in the bikini may be influencing my opinion.

"and then how do I get Bush's tax refund?"

Screw the 20 story window. Throw the lawyer out of a 2nd story window, repeatedly. No use letting him die quick.

Of course, maybe by then the bullets will have a EULA saying you can't give them to someone else- and shooting someone is giving them the bullet.
You may be right there, but what happens when this becomes the next great trend in the tool world?
then you would no longer have to imagine a beowulf cluster of these
How long before they patent this "never before seen" technology?

For the humor impaired, he was making a joke.
