Sorry, but I'm not comforted by the thought of the cops arriving in time to save my ass. I like the odds a lot better holding a gun of my own. Seems like a gamble I don't care to make. I also resent the nanny state telling me how I must act (like a lemming) at times when I'm facing a gunman out to kill me and anyone else around me.
I completely understand the distinction, I simply to choose to ignore it since it really doesn't matter. Macs have vulnerabiliies. To harp on the type of disease is just an attempt to deflect from the main point.
BTW, no number of delusional John Wayne wannabes could have stopped that gunman.
I guess I'll take comfort in the fact that the cops will be there in 5 minutes while I take a bullet in my back shielding my girl friend from the maniac. Actually, the riot helmet Holmes was wearing wouldn't have stopped a bullet. Difficult shot but I'd rather take it than wait for the cops to show up and "save" the day.

I was a kid in the 70's, and lemme tell ya (finger shake) people have been writing books about over population and economic collapse since then, and well before even. I deffinately recall that back then, among other things, there was a hue and cry about a new ice age. I had a class in jr. high school that had the teacher makin us watch "The Population Bomb" and that famous one about information overload and modern life (forget the name), and seriously, its a little nuts to take any one view point too seriously. Sure, there may be something to the current notion of global warming. But there was something to the Cultural Revolution as far as the Red Guard were concerned as well. Entirely made up of empty-headed 20-somethings waving a little red book around destroying everything in their path. Anyone who questioned them was made to wear a dunce cap. Let's not do the same thing with this global warming scare.
the 13 warmest years for the entire planet have all occurred since 1998
I could have SWORN I heard in the media a few years ago (like within the last 3) that the US experienced the COLDEST winter ever. I'm not trying to flame, just seems to me that I remember such comments. Am I losing it or what?
Yeah, I like OID myself, caveat: I'm biased to OSS solutions. Now I'm not blind to its short-comings, but if anyone comes up with a solution that is the least objectionable to the most number of users that person should rightly be called a genius. Without any numbers or hard research to back it up I suspect OID suffers from the same biases most OSS software suffers from: lack of faith in it's security, standards, interoperability, review, etc. All basless of course, yet still pervasive. I think if OID can do what other OSS offerings have done to be successful it can make a real run at being the de facto security standard. This has happened for apache as a web server. It can happen for OID.
A real conservative would insist that all would-be passengers get both, of course.
Of course a real conservative would tell the government to fuck off with scanning, spying, and any warrentless invasive nonsense. And ignore liberal disinformation.
Here's a good idea that will be only implemented after thoughtful, contemplative consideration of all its implications and effects are throughly explored with invitations to discussions for all affected parties extended I'm sure.
but they all still kick up sharply at the end when we get to the industrial age.
If true, it still means we know nothing about the whole topic and upsetting the currrent global economic system in favor of some fantasy aguarian worker's paradise (which will nessessarily doom millions to death by starvation) is probably not the way to go here. It would be a little like righting a bus that leans a bit to the left by killing all passengers sitting on the left side of the bus. Which is being advocated by the likes of All Gore, Christopher Monckton, and Joe Bast of the Heartland Institute.
Microsoft needs to do the same and get rid of Steve B
He's done nothing for Microsoft at all, but clearly as a founder he's part of the old boy's club and not going anywhere soon unless Microsoft's board finally says enough z'nough.
That's not a determination I need others to make for me.
Doesn't make it right and this shit needs to be exposed. "any" is a dumb shit.

"Macs don't get viruses", keep chanting that as you work on unrooting that trojan...
And trojans aren't viruses...
Bitter is the fruit of proud assumption proven false.
US != World
Ummm... yeah, the news stories I commented on however were regarding the US, so... I'm not going to embellish, just report.

You forgot the most important step, where the "magic" happens, just before Profit. Surely the legal arts are akin to voodoo these days.
What about OpenID (?)

Something has to be done, no?
No. If you are at all curious why I say "no" I refer you to the concept of the secret ballot.

Wow, are you a natural-born asshole...
I doubt he works at it harder than Al Franken does.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
Its kind of cool to see people are still aware of an 80+ y-o vaudville routine.
But who am I to tell other people they can't have it.
Damn strait. I'm ordering asap if it even diegns to promise me that it will filter out any and all variations on "Call Me Maybe" videos.

...yawn.
"...great artists steal."
...and huge orgy. Everyone is welcome to come! WOOOHOOO
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the neckbeards who rated this entry as informative show up for the "orgy".

Also, it bears noting the Google typically doesn't deny those stories.
Also, it bears noting that the allegation comes from a direct compititor to the android phone.
