Everyone seems to be assuming the validation's going to be in the OS binaries, and can just be NOPed out with an editor. What if the actual chip requires constant challenge-response keys from the OS, or it shuts the processor down? I doubt as many people will be able to easily mod their surface-mount hardware.
I agree - to all those saying "It's a bubble, it'll burst," you should consider the fact that people are investing in google's future. They've shown a remarkable ability to come up with ingenious new ideas, VERY fast. People are obviously buying their stock in expectation of google eventually coming up with a killer app, and getting rich. Stocks trade on innovation, not just current profits.
Personally, I know if my environment is good and work is pleasant, I'm delighted and happy to code my rear end off for a company. However, when they become distrustful/restrictive, I tend to get stubborn... It's a natural human response, I'm told.
More importantly, how long will you be able to stand a life of Pong and text editing, mixed with the constant hum of a 5 1/4" drive?:P I sense massive internet withdrawal symptoms in your future...
The problem is, the copies store the files in WMA format. In other words, WMP is going to go out and want to download a license before it'll play those files. That's why they say you can't copy it more than once.
What?? Peter Jackson followed them in? Horrors! I guess he wanted to get some good shots before they got toasted... Talk about some hazard pay for the actors.
I do hope this isn't merely a bone thrown to the anti-Patriot crowd... If it is, other more important issues may be compromised on because of this.

When in doubt, mod +1 insightful and pray.
Especially considering the heart attack factor of ANYONE interrupting you when you're playing Doom 3.

You need microwaves, not an EMF pulse. Get a surplus cable dish, an old microwave, and frying the FETs in their amp will be child's play ;)
