This is a stupid comment. 20 years ago Cassette players were ubiquitous. 10 years before that it was A-Tracks. If everyone thought the same way as you do that where we'd still be.
Besides Ogg Vorbis has atleast one hardware device already and more on the way I'm sure.
Now they just need to hury and get Thedora into beta.
I've worked right next door to them for the last 15 months and I had no idea what they did...Maybe I should pop over tomorow and see if they've got any free CDs...
This is the fucking stupidess arguement I've ever heard.
1. People aren't easily killed. With a gun maybe. But try killing a man with a knife of less than 6 inches in lenght or no weapons at all. If very deifficult without the training. Therefore people are only very easily killed with highly specialized equipment.
Unless you're in California where its illegal for local stations to show movies/shows that contain certain Gubernatorial candidates I will not mention by name (mostly because I can't spell it)
Shit. I'm sure Napster didn't spring from its coders hands an effecient piece of filesharing code. In fact Napster design shortcomings were directly responsible for its demise.
What it did do nicely however was start a revolution and spur evolution that brought us Kazaa and the Gnutella offshoots and Direct Connect.
I fully understand your stance against kiddie porn, but do you think you not being on the network is going to stop that kind of thing? Kiddie porn doesn't exist because of P2P networks. Its been around long before easy electronic transfers. The way to stop it is at the root not at the tip. Thats like trying to stop a bank robbers by changing the speed limit so that can't drive away so fast...buts that a whole other discussion.
In a morbid way I'm actually hoping someone lets that "Destroy their computers if they infringe" Bill slip past Congress. I'd like to see someone plant a bunch and of fake MP3's on Microsoft or a big Private Uni like Stanford's network and RIAA start burning their computers with impunity.
The truth of it is as lo0ng as they're going after the littlest guy (College and High Schoolers who are old enough to be liable, and young and broke enough to be intimidated) not much is going to change, but could you imagine them burning the computers in Orin Hatch's office.
which is fucking crazy to me since they've basically appropraited System of a Down's sound. I didn't like them before and I hate them now, but I guess after all the bullshit they still have fans somewhere.
Which is why nothing will ever really change. The few people who care are easily drowned out by the screaming mass of blithering morons that make up the majority of the population.
not necessarily. If they start maiing these for microchips the field changes. No one is going to pay Diamond ring prices for a microchip. And you can certainly sell more chips than rings. Eventually the industry is going to buckle, and I'll be laughing at DeBeers when it does. Blood money bastards.
Reloaded had to be the most disappointing movie of 2003. The problem was that they basically had nowhere to go after the first one. Wire-Fu has been done to death by everyone after Matrix came out now what? More wire-fu? I ope the W bros learned their lesson but I doubt it. I'll see it a few weeks after release anyway.
Just visit AICN and look at the amount of plant reveiws. The first three reviews for LXG is a good example. Three reveiws in a row all exactly three paragraphs long. All conspicously mentioning Connery's age. One of them even going as far to call it the greatest movie of the summer.
These viral marketing people have been around for a while. I give them a few months to catch up with this text messaging thing and find some way to use it to there advantage.Hopefully the people who pay attention will continue to see it for what it is.

And once again someone entirely misses my point.
I'm not claiming the theory is false or true for that matter. I'm questioning the need to sensationlize it like this, instead of just presenting the facts.
Why can't they have stated the above discoveries like you did? Instead they come up with wild theories of a Showdown in the Alps. It just makes them look stupid whenever a new disovery is made that disproves it. While its hard to argue that he hadn't been shot with an arrowhead staring you in the face, its very easy to discount blood stains on his shoulder being from him carrying a wounded friend. The are are least a hundred other equally or more plausible explanations of how the blood got there. But they pick the scenario that turns him into and Action Hero.
Also I don't ever remember expousing the veiw that Otzi was some Proto Hippie.
I'm questioning the bottom-line standards of necrophiliacs
Are you kidding? Could you imagine the bragging rights, from fucking 5,000 year old cave-man?

Lets start from the beginning shall we.
The first conclusion was that he was walking the alps in Autmn. A sudden storm blew up and he died of Hypothermia.
The guys that proposed this theory and missed the huge (well not huge but not tiny) arrowhead stuck in his shoulder.
Then somebody grabbed samples of 5000 old turd from his anus and discovered spring pollen. So the next theory I believe was that he got into a fight, someone/s beat the shit out of him breaking his ribs and he fled into the mountains, collapsed and died of shock.
Then lo and behold somebody spotted the arrowhead. So then we get the shot in the back theaory and the rib deformation was determined to be post mortem, caused by the pressure of the ice he was frozen in.
Now because they've found bruises on his rib area , the entire Ice pressure hypothesis goes out the window and we're back to the beating, but with a twist. Blood samples on his shoulder spontaneously exagerates into a wounded wisecracking side kick. Other blood samples become ninja assassins and Otzi is now a Lowly Sheep-Hearder turned Vigilante Out for Justice(TM).
Have these guys ever heard of Ockham's Razor? I'm no foresic scientist, but this does not seem like the simplest explanation too me.
In fact this smacks of sensationlism aimed at Joe & Jane Sixpack, so these guys can grab more funding.
I work in research and if I cooked up a wild story everytime I think I've discovered the 21st Century's version of DNA, my boss would have my head.
I saw the DC documentary. The researchers invovled in this project just keep making the story wilder. It wasn't good enough that someone shot him in the back and he collapsed and died. Now they're making him into a First Action Hero.
Next they'll tell us he was actually from the year 1865 sent back in time 5000 years to protect a hot, but dumpy looking cave-chick from the Steam powered Terminator sent from the same future to kill her before she fathered the distant ancestor of Rudolf Diesel...

Wait! I posted ahhh shit....
you mean I can get PAID for that?!!

I propose a ban be placed on usage this particular Ob Simpson's quote. Its being over-used and thus the vale of it has been depreciated completely.

They doesn't seem to be many extremes to take things to anymore. Mostly it seems like where almost there anyway.
and thats what Sci-Fi (or spec-fi) is about isn't it? Examinations of the human condition by taking a current idea to its logical extreme.
How you equate pulp to crap is beyond me...

never going to happen though.
