Economies of scale: Per kw, whatever ROI you can achieve, it's safe to assume the local power company can generate a lot more energy to both resell and profit cheaper than what you can. That, and you don't have to worry about the 20 year lifespan of equipment, maintenance, and payback. If solar technology is really being mass-produce on the cheap, I'd expect a wider adoption of utility provided solar vs the home owner taking on this investment.

I live in a single story home that's almost 2,000 sq ft. West of Houston, TX (Katy) where it often gets hot an humid, my electric bill goes anywhere from $85 to $160 per month depending on time of year. I've heard that older homes in Houston of the same sq ft costing $500+ in electricity in the summertime.

Depending on the value of the land the house is built on, it can be cheaper/better to just tear down and rebuild. And in many cases, people are doing exactly that! When I explain the concept of replacing and old home with new, it's a major shocker to people in other states. I get that look like I've just described warp field physics "un-fucking believable!!!" and "No way!!!" Umm, homes have a finite life like anything else. If it's cost effective to do so, don't renovate, just raze the fucker to the ground and rebuild!

Like Obama, Trump is a cult of personality. Trump is a flip-flopper on issues and will soon implode on one of his many gaffes. Rick Perry got shoved out, Cruz is a worm that turns (can't be trusted), and all other candidates (save maybe Scott Walker), are pro H1B immigration.

Meanwhile on the Democrat side; Sanders won't get far in the debates, and in fact is so weak that he caved instantly on the BLM takeover of his speech. Imagine how he will stand up to foreign aggressors like Russia. Hillary Clinton might be behind bars. Biden is a joke that's running, which is a spin on a running joke. And Gore has an ego so big his head won't fit through a door to participate in any debate.

What I strongly suspect is that there will be a campaign reboot v2.0 on both sides. We could very well end up with Rick Perry up against Jim Webb come election time.

Under the civil remedies provision of the Antiterrorism Act (18 U.S. Code 2333), victims of international terrorism can sue, Lawfare explains, adding that an act violating criminal law is required to meet section definitions. Courts have found material support crimes satisfy this criteria. Because Apple was previously warned of potential threats to national security, specifically the danger of loss of life, it could be found to have provided material support to the theoretical terrorist.

The authors point out that Apple would most likely be open liability under 2333 for violating 18 USC 2339A, which makes it a crime to "provide[] material support or resources ... knowing or intending that they are to be used in preparation for, or in carrying out" a terrorist attack or other listed criminal activity. Communications equipment is specifically mentioned in the statute.
