My OCD side loved collecting all the upgrades and emails.

I didn't like the fighting aspect so much as the exploration side of the game. I spent so much time searching for build points and upgrades that the game was over before I wanted it to be.

Disc fighting was a lot of fun for me too.

Oh, and I thought the 'active memory powerup' stuff was pretty innovative. I hadn't seen a design quite like that before.

If the people involved in making that game were involved in making a movie based off this title, I'd be okay with it.

The quality of this game is the _only_ thing that doesn't make me abandon all hope for this project.

I liked how the game incorporated newer technology ideas that weren't around back then, yet stayed truthful to the Tron universe.

The bit that does worry me is the mention of wanting to appeal to a younger audience. I really hope they don't dumb it down, or add some goofy sidekick product-tie in character.
I wish Disney could make animated films without demanding that at least one character is there to hold the attention of toddlers.

Games have always been a 'risk versus reward' situation. The 'good' stuff is always behind the harder enemy, the bigger jump, the tougher puzzles.

That's where the fun comes from; surviving the risk to get the reward.

Wandering around getting the rewards with no risk doesn't sound exciting.
Reading books and painting pictures aren't exciting. They may be enjoyable and rewarding activities, but not notably exciting, IMO.

I absolutely hate the horrendous structure they've erected around the rocket.

For those who haven't seen it, the thing looks like a massive white corrugated metal shed. Tiny little windows, no features, just a huge white cheap looking building.

I hope to God that this is temporary while they fix it up. I heard they needed to dry it out before working on it, so I'm hoping this was just a quick way to enclose it.

I hate how it looks. It's terrible.

"You start out pretty much in a grassy field making bricks and gathring wood."

I see the makings of an extradornary strategy guide:

Step 1. Wander around making bricks.
    Step 2. Get some wood.
    Step 3. Wake up.
Step 4. Fend off family members mistaking your current state for 'comatose'.

Without combat, how can there be any risk involved?
At least with other games, gathering involves some kind of risk. Fend off the enemies so you can grab your stuff.
    Without that, what's the point?

My company flies me back and forth to Moscow Russia a few times a year. I never see these plugs in coach class. (They send me on Delta, btw.)

I was upgraded to Business class once, and saw the plugs there. However, these weren't standard outlets, and required a special adapter. This wasn't a nationality issue; there was a special airplane plug of some sort. The guy next to me had a laptop & portable DVD player, both of which died on the 14 hour flight because he didn't have this special adapter.

And to the poster who says it's only the cost of a meal to upgrade: try upgrading an international flight. It's a bit more than that.
The only time I was upgraded was when I was forced to stay the night in NY due to Delta's mistake. My company wouldn't ever spring for it, due to the cost.

(I guess that satisfies your assumption about mentioning the fact that Nintendo's battery life is better, but it's true...)

I'll reserve my complete judgement on the unit until I see it for myself, but this issue is certainly not painting it in a very favorable light.

During this downtime, the STS has been sorely missed, and our reliance on the Russians for access to the station is causing more than just a few problems.

Even if the orbiters were damaged, or the launch platforms damaged, they can always be re-built, repaired, or whatever.

Even if it looks like the eye will hit KSC dead-on, they've still got enough time to stick an orbiter on the 747 and get one of them out of there...

Besides, the launch structures withstand regular beatings from the shuttle launches, and they've survived for years...
The VAB might take some damage, perhaps some of the other support buildings, but it's going to take more than a hurricane to destroy KSC & the shuttle program completely.
