The way I can see it, I think that one day or another, the Internet WILL be taxed as it becomes more of our way of life, just like everything else in our way of life is pretty much taxed.

Oh, and at least the US doesn't have a federal service tax. Yay for 14% tax on all sales where I live! (BC, Canada) I wouldn't want to know how much havoc this would run with the Internet junkies here.

  5. Honestly, though. on N-Gage Here To Stay? · · Score: 0

Okay, I don't have an N-Gage (and probably never will), and it's probably the crappiest video game system since the ailing 32-bit age (between the SNES and PSX), but when it really comes all down to it, it's a cell phone, a crappy video game system, AND a handheld in one, just without the PC connectivity. I did demo an N-Gage once and saw what it is like, and if you took the video games out, you'd probably get something almost like a PalmOne Treo, with just a tad bit less functionality. (Besides. Treos aren't that great. The CTO of my company has one and he hates it.)

To me, Tetris and Bingo are in two completely different leagues. I truly wonder how this game will come out, and if it will or will not be a hit. I can't even imagine.

I don't have lots of luck at Bingo, but I'm a pretty good decent Tetris player myself. (Although I'm sure there are many MANY people that have gotten past level 14 before.) Even still, if I had a better phone I would give this one a try when it comes out, but I guess I first need a way better phone than this TM-520. :P

  7. Hmm... on 1 Million PSPs Confirmed for U.S. Launch · · Score: 0
One million units. Hopefully history won't repeat itself, seeing the unit-shortage horror with the DS at launch. (Despite Nintendo denying it, I still say there was a shortage just by looking at the GameFAQs boards in the first couple of weeks.)

The way I see it though is that the PSP probably won't sell as fast as the NDS, making it a lot easier to get. Not to mention a decent line of launch games, compared to the craptacular DS launch line, save Super Mario DS and a couple of others.

All I can say is this is that I think Sony is gonna give Nintendo a run for its money. This will be interesting to see. Sony beat out Nintendo in the console department as far as I know, and the NDS might just become a self-inflicted wound for Nintendo, and the Game Boy might just fall.

  8. Re:At least it will make more sense on ESRB Adds New 'Tween' Rating · · Score: 0
Actually, you make an interesting point. A lot of the time I fail to the the violence against women thing, because in my home there was violence against men, but that's a different story.

If that's the case, then I would understand to a point, but otherwise I would say it's just BS. I'm quite sure SSBM would still qualify as an E10+, however.

Something to ponder: What ever happened to the K-A rating? Wouldn't that have worked just as well as E10+?

  9. At least it will make more sense on ESRB Adds New 'Tween' Rating · · Score: 1, Interesting

In opinion, I'm hoping that this will better inform parents driven solely on ESRB ratings. There are too many cartoon/fantasy violence games out there that have been "overrated" with a T rating. SSBM is THE perfect example of this, seeing that its predecessor was given an E. (The way it was put by Nintendo Power was that it was up to a T because of the better quality graphics, which is the biggest BS I've ever heard.)

So yes, hopefully this will ease the minds of many a parent and makes the decision easier.

I also like the "lives" (language, illegal, violence, evil, sex) system that was thought up. If only someone thought of that before. Kudos to the poster.

  10. Alright on Microsoft Robots to Watch Kids · · Score: 0
Sure, give parents an even better reason not to raise their kids properly. Leave it to Micro$oft!

At least in my case I know I can't handle kids, so I'm not having them.

My question is this: How many kids who have this "toy" are going to become murderers due to lack of parenting and discipline? (Probably not very many, but I really don't wanna know.)

On the other hand, however, a good parent might actually be able to put this to good use, and it could become really handy... until it crashes from some bug, god forbid, but then again, it would be the first toy that could watch over a child AND spontaneously crash. (However, I'm confident that Microsoft can do something like this without messing it up royally.) However, if a parent needs to take their eyes off their child for a few minutes, probably up until an hour or two (given that they're home) then it'll help more than hurt. (Of course, a couple of days at a time would be just plain dumb, and that goes back to my drunken drugged murderers comment.)

So in one way, this could be good, and in others, it could be bad. It all depends on how it's used.

It'll work until either the child gets bored with it, or he/she comes into the room completely blue, saying, "A fatal exception has occured."

  14. There's always a workaround on Xbox 2 to Have Wireless Controllers Standard · · Score: 0
I don't have a WaveBird myself, but having been playing Game Boys all my life, dealing with disposable battery life is simple.

If you've been using a pair of batteries in a controller for a while and plan on playing for quite a while, change the batteries to fresh ones, put the other batteries on the side, and use them for shorter sessions until you run out. ;) It's clever use of a four-pack for AA's. Then again, I'm not 100% sure on controller battery life, as I'm sure these controllers won't have screens.

But I will say, I like the idea of the XBOX 2 having wireless controllers, as long as they're not as big-ass and clunky as the original XBOX. It won't sway me into getting an XBOX, but I concede that it's a semi-good move on M$' part.
