    Do we really have such short memories? It was customary in a lot of countries to include many of those attributes on a resume. Except for measurements.

    I can even remember including 'hobbies' on resumes in the past. "Reading, listening to music"... sounded like a bloody ad for the personal column.

    The point is, we in the "enlightened West" are only one generation removed from what we are condemning others for. If you want to, 'encourage' the local companies not to outsource to others that support these practices, but don't feel all superior and smug. After all, if these discriminatory practices were so obviously wrong, then they wouldn't have to be legislated against in our own countries, we would instinctively know them to be wrong.

    Why not. Regular bacteria get viral infections, aka bacteriophages. There is also considerable bacteria-bacteria transfer of genetic material via plasmids and transposons. All that nice, neat, tidy stuff you learned in Intro Biology ... it's bullshit. It's a jungle out there.

    Whenever you have biology neatly defined, something will come along to blow that out of the water and add another layer of complexity. It just keeps going and going and...

    Backups over email. Sure. The people here getting excited over this are the kind of people I wouldn't rely upon to change their underwear.

    Get 2 extra HDs. Use them to back up. Alternate them. No dicking around with cutting files into chunks, complaining about slow connections...

    And in answer to your question, Occam's Razor would like you to provide a little more proof before you go about positing a multiplicity of arks.

    Answer 2: They were the Chosen People. Everyone else was evil, therefore god wouldn't save anyone else.

    It means that you can work with HD in FCP and send it out for broadcasting in HD, then it can be repurposed for DVD (at standard definition) using DVD Studio Pro 3.("In addition to standard MPEG-2 encoding of SD for DVD, Compressor 1.2 can now down-convert and encode HD sources from Final Cut Pro HD to MPEG-2")

    Also, note that the Panasonic records its HD on DVCPRO, which is a different beast to miniDV. It looks like it records "true" HD (at low compression), rather than the much more compressed version of lower cost cameras like the JVC (which applies MPEG2 compression on-the-fly).

    BTW, I would have that asthma seen to and treated. Just because it's not affecting you if you're not exercising, doesn't mean damage isn't being done. Also, having asthma does not automatically exclude you from exercise.

    FWIW, I ride a bike to work most days, but I know that bikes are not the answer to all modern transport problems.

    Eliminates a lot of the black economy, under the table payments, as people dont move from one tax bracket to another stuffing up their rebates.

    That's what they said about the GST in Australia (10% on all goods (except exempted fresh foods) and services) when in fact it has driven the underground economy to greater heights.

    The only person who used to benefit from 'under the table' payments was the recipient, who didn't want to pay tax on income, unless the recipient offered a 'cash discount' price. Now the payer knows that they can can save at least 10% by offering cash and paying no GST, while the recipient still saves income tax.

    Assuming people are saving money in a bank or another institution where it's available for others to spend, then it's a good thing.

    When there's more money available for investors to borrow for business, then the economy will be more stimulated than if consumers were busy buying cheap crap just because it's cheap.

    Since these documents are residing on the computers of federal, state, and local intelligence agencies, wouldn't you actually want some sort of Digital Rights Management to be used?

    This isn't some sort of government-sponsored MP3/mov fileserver for the public.
