That's not a proper list of bad employers. It's a random list of every company someone has a grievance with. From what I can tell, few of the posts were by current or former employers of the named company. Examples, Walmart, most people who work for them like their job. Their posting was just a typical example of "hate the big guy". Another example, Harley-Davidson, not liking their product has nothing to do with whether they are a good employer or not. In fact, HD is employee owned and, unlike in the 70's, make awesome motorcycles. However, just because I ride a Harely does not mean I am qualified to rate them as an employer.
Allow guns, but limit the ammo to specific types that are aircraft safe, basically what the air marshals use. There might still be a massacre, but the terrorists will die, and the plane won't fall down. This would put a quick stop to hijacking attempts.
In the past, when I had to pick a primary care doctor out of a book for the HMO insurance, I would always pick the doctor who's name sounded most like a disease. I figured he had to be good, and I didn't really have anything else to base my decision on.
You attach too much significance to "rights". They are legal fictions.
Not in the U.S. Our Founding Fathers recognized that men were born with "natural rights". The Bill of Rights does not give us these rights, it merely recognizes them and basically says the government can't mess with them.
Does man ever have a chance to put God on trial?
Every single day. A common example of this is a crisis of faith.
This particular island sank two decades ago. Atanu Raha, director of Sundarban Biosphere Reserve, said the islands were getting eroded by oceanic currents, not by rising sea levels. "Erosion and accretion are natural phenomena. Across the world islands submerge and new ones emerge. This is natural, Raha said.
I'm sure the loony ultra-left will still want to blame Bush.
Whenever I get overly depressed that my government is wasting too much time and money on stupid shit, I just look to the UK to brighten my mood. The UK owns the bleeding edge of stupid shit that wastes taxpayer money.
Using a run-on sentence one time can be a useful humor device to get a point across. If they had done it just once, it would have been very funny. Ten times, however, was annoying and not so funny.
to justify your own sick obsession with handguns. You couldn't be more wrong. We have an obsession with freedom. Throughout history, the ability to bear arms was the sign of and guarantee of freedom.
That's something the British used to believe. In fact, our belief in individual rights is based loosely on the British concept of rights and freedom (we revolted against your government because we were refused the same rights as any other British citizen). Alas, you have let your government take it away. It used to be considered an inherent right of a freeman to bear arms in your country. In fact, that was your badge of honor and solemn duty when you became a freeman.
but you realise its just an arms race right?. No. Criminals are usually cowardly. They use a gun against unarmed citizens because it easily gets them what they want (typically your wallet). A criminal could more easily obtain a baseball bat or a knife, but it doesn't have the scare factor of a gun. It has been proven that areas with easy to obtain concealed weapons permits, the confrontational crime rates drop. There is a marked increase, however, of non-confrontational crimes. That's the difference between a mugger taking your wallet from you, or stealing the stereo from your car. Which would you prefer?
The Bill of Rights also uses the words "person" and "owner" in various places. Just because "The People" isn't used in every single place doesn't exclude clauses from being individual rights. Common sense is all that is required and is what the Framers of the Constitution expected of a normal person. It's when courts (especial the 9th district) abandon common sense to create a twisted interpretation that we have problems.
You must be a big fan of the total banning of guns in the UK. Now that no one has guns, they've turned it into the perfect utopian society without crimes or violence.
BTW, that's called sarcasm. Since they've banned guns, that catchy NRA slogan has become a reality (if it's a crime to have guns, only criminals will have guns). The UK has the fastest growing rate of gun crimes in all of western civilization.
Throughout the Constitution, the wording is very specific. When referring to individual rights, the term "The People" is used. When referring to state rights, the term "The States" is used. Unless you believe the 2nd Amendment is the ONLY EXCEPTION to this rule, it is most definitely an individual right as it says "... the right of The People..."
If the meaning of "The People" is changed to indicate a state right, ALL our rights will be lost. Suddenly, speech, religion, assembly, redress, etc, will be State rights and everything that makes this country worthwhile will go into the shitter.
If the government can abuse a law, eventually the government will abuse a law. Maybe not right away, but a few years down the road it will happen. A good example of this is the seizing of property without due process. At first they were seizing property of convicted drug dealers. Then they started seizing the property of unconvicted drug dealers. After getting away with this obvious violation of the Constitution, they started seizing property of people with the thinnest thread of a connection to drugs, e.g. a guy had his car seized because his passenger had a joint in his possession.
The saying used to be, "No one ever got fired for choosing IBM." These days it's, "No one ever got fired for choosing Microsoft." It's not about choosing the best product/service/supplier. It's all about covering one's ass.
I would much rather have a couple of high powered lasers facing to the rear. That way I can deal with those idiot tailgaters myself. A couple in front would be good, too, if they are powerful enough to vaporize that asshole doing 50 in the fast lane.
Basically, this "so called" webmaster wanted free consulting from Google. I don't think so. My personal response would have been, "I'll be happy to supply you with the information you request. It will, however, cost you my standard consulting rate of $xx/hour, two hour minimum."
Only friends and family get free computer help from me, but I'm rethinking that policy since I spent half a day cleaning the malware off my brother's computer during the last family holiday. He probably won't ask me to do it again, though. When he asked how his system got so infected, I answered (in front of the entire family), "You got infected from all those lesbian porn sites you've been visiting."
If you are in California you can't be arbitrarily classified as salaried, nor can you voluntarily become salaried. Basically, there are two categories that can be salaried. 1. You must be licensed to legally work in your field, e.g. doctor or lawyer. 2. You are a manager and are directly responsible for at least two subordinates (no tricky crap like three guys managing each other). There is NOT a classification based upon a high salary. That loophole was closed many years ago.
If you work in a different state, you're probably screwed. If your employer is based in a different state, they must still follow California law for workers based in this state.
Other important labor points in California:
There is no such thing as use it or lose it vacation time. If the company won't give you the time off to use it, they must still pay you your vacation time.
A credit check of a prospective employee can NOT be required and can NOT be a condition of employment (positions requiring a government security clearance being an exception).
California is a right to work state. Non-compete agreements are generally unenforceable.
So making it dangerous to grope a woman makes it ok to execute her when she has the nerve to defend herself from gang rape?
As for misunderstanding, since the koran (now in two-ply) specifies that conversion by the sword (along with lots of other "fun" stuff) is perfectly acceptable, I don't see how I misunderstood a damn thing. Since major islamic religious leaders repeat this sentiment, it's reasonable to assume the belief is alive and well.
I simply don't understand the extreme left. The islamic world is completely opposed to every damn thing they believe in, yet the ultra-lefties go out of their way to side with them. It's people like this that caused me to drop my Democratic party affiliation and register independent.
In Pakistan, they finally changed the law that required four male witnesses to convict a rapist. Without those four witnesses, a women stood a good chance of being punished for infidelity. The religious community is up in arms about this legal change, denouncing it because it will result in sexual promiscuity.
In Saudi Arabia, a 17 year old girl was recently sentenced to death for killing one of the three men who attempted to rape her and her cousin. The remaining two men were not charged with any crime.
Don't pretend for one moment that women have any legal rights in an Islamic country. The laws do a better job of protecting horses than women. I'm not being sarcastic. That is an honest fact. Horses have a higher rank in Islamic societies.
Islam is a religion of oppression and hate. We can all sit in a happy circle and sing kumbaya wishing for peace, but that is a fantasy. The stated goal of Islam is to convert the entire world, by the sword if necessary.
I will hold this stance against Islam until the major leaders of that sick religion denounce all forms of violence to obtain their goals.
Speak for yourself! I work with Linux, Apache, and a host of other open source packages. I'm in it for the money. You can't expect me to show up for work every day for the fun of it, do you? I have bills to play.

Today I had prime rib here in Mountain View. God I love my job.
Every single day. A common example of this is a crisis of faith.
And Starbucks is church. Yep, I like Starbucks. So what. I also like Pete's and Tully's.
As for the protest against Starbucks. Typical unwashed hippie thinking, "they are a successful corporation, so they must be evil."

When did NPR become part of the mainstream media?
Using a run-on sentence one time can be a useful humor device to get a point across. If they had done it just once, it would have been very funny. Ten times, however, was annoying and not so funny.
Your government has done an excellent job of getting you to believe their bullshit.
Equating guns with drugs is fairly standard propaganda. You swallowed it whole.
That's something the British used to believe. In fact, our belief in individual rights is based loosely on the British concept of rights and freedom (we revolted against your government because we were refused the same rights as any other British citizen).
