It's true about the touring money. I remember the first time my band earned enough to buy a hamburger each after the gig. We celebrated in style;)
Rock and Roll!!
Yahoo mail is the same. I have an account that just get viral spams every day. "Yeah sure! I'll click on this Document.pif file because you say so";) LOL
I don't have Mandrake 10 downloaded yet, but according to press releases I have read, they have put DVD writing ability into K3B as of Mandrake 10.
I use K3B for all my CD writing on my current Mandrake 9.2 system and I am more than happy with it. If the DVD writing performance is on par with the CD writing in K3B, I'm sure you would like it too:)
Windows XP Professional - $299 Norton Antivirus - $60 Norton Firewall(1 user only) - $50 Popup blocker - $40 Anti Spam Software - $30 Anti Spyware/Trojan Software - $30 Online Windows Update - Free Total - $509
Having your new Windows XP box exploited (after 10 minutes online), owned, used as a Spam relay/kitty pr0n ftp server and then crashing after the C: drive is wiped by a script kiddie...
If they spam me with my.fr address, I'll track them down and "opt them in" for every email porn spam generator I can find;)
I say this, because I often find spam in my inbox that contain "offers" only for American residents.
I live in France!
Seriously though, would we have any luck complaining to their hosting provider about the spam considering they are the govt? That often works for me and my spam disappears for months before starting again when someone gets hold of my email address.
Imagine! You could have the power to knock the presidential campaign website of the net!:)
Actually, they now have a lot of RAW pics taken with L4,L5a and L6 filters.
If you combine them yourself you get very different results to the NASA ones. Instead of washed out sepia toned pics you get a much clearer result.
You can also see that both rovers landed in very different terrain.
Combine the pics yourself and see. Spirit's environment has all that nice red/ochre sand that we all know and love, but Opportunity is rolling about over bluey/black material with the red colour poking through from time to time. In fact, if you look at the closer images of the rock outcrops, you can see blue, spherical pebbles being eroded out of the rocks!
Whatever the controversies about the colouring of the pics, you can't help but be totally awed by the whole thing, and at least NASA is nice enough to make the RAW pictures available for us to play with ourselves:)
This is what I always dreamed of.
A few years ago I had an Amiga 1200, 14inch CRT monitor, and a couple of fx and sound modules hooked up to a small mixing desk inside a bloody great big roadcase to use in a live situation. The other guys in the band hated it;) I even made a custom startup sequence that bypassed most of the OS to just run Octamed Soundstudio with about 10 seconds of booting up time.
Now this thing, you could run Reason or Logic Audio and have access to a ton of sounds as well as being able to mix the sequences live. Brilliant!
Why not either donate the old hardware to charity or set up the old machine in the kitchen and let the wife browse for recipes on the internet with it?:)
"Sure, a lot of people don't like Microsoft, but that's no reason to make it worse for the millions of people who are forced to use Microsoft products, especially for security holes which have yet to be exploited."
Are you "forced" to use Microsoft products? Even if you don't want to try the freely available Linux and FreeBSD etc.. OS's you can still use alternative browsers like Netscape, Mozilla, and Opera to name a few even if you remain in the windows environment. While your at it, ditch Outlook for a real email client too;)
Remember, you have the freedom to chose!
I wonder if the map would be more legible if you took out all the Porn sites and sites that are merely annoying endless loops of spam? Still, it does look very pretty. Like a picture of a distant galaxy from the Hubble:)
Oh great!
Where can I get the software that spammers use?
I could start sending each spammer 10,000,000 variations of "Sod Off" in individual emails;) Would that piss them off slightly?
Activation will not stop piracy. It's a waste of money for them to develop and administrate it and it makes the product all the more attractive for the pirates to crack it. How many cracked copies of (activation required) Windows XP are running out there?
Still, it doesnt bother me. Running Linux and the Gimp works well for me. I never miss a deadline:)
Until recently, I worked for the UK Government and we were using a financial system called FAS. It ran in a terminal window and was written in COBOL. I think it first came into use in 1981. They are currently looking at a replacement sometime in 2004/5!
2 years ago we were still using P75's running WIN 3.11 until the IT dept. upgraded to PIII 733's running WIN NT.
Sometimes the network would be unavailable but I managed to keep working by booting up my "secret" Linux installation;)
I pay the equivalent of A$60-70 per month for 512/128 ADSL in France with no Bandwidth Cap! (I currently use 700-800Mb per day)
Australians are getting right royally ripped off.
Can't wait to get back home to Perth and use dial-up again (not!) because ADSL in Australia is not worth it.
