  1. Just make him have a PC on How To Get a Game-Obsessed Teenager Into Coding? · · Score: 0

If I were a parent, I would say no to consoles in the house, but get my kid a really nice PC. PC Gaming is much more likely to lead to modding which will in turn lead to creativity, and that may be in the form of programming.

Hey - I am an n900 owner, and I can confirm that heavy use will give about a day's usage. If you're just using it as a text and phone device though, and aren't connected to an internet connection, you can definitely get two days easy out of it. Hope that helps!

The n900 is a beautiful thing - given what you've written, I totally recommend you get one at any cost.

Excuse me, but isn't the current lawsuit about Vivendi trying to stop Valve from selling Half Life 2 on Steam? And haven't the courts told Valve they can't sell HL2 on steam until the end of the case? And aren't Valve about to start selling HL2 on steam?

I know that you won't be able to actually get HL2 today, but when you plonk down that $90, you sure as hell aren't paying for the hat... you're paying for Half Life 2. Doesn't that count as Valve selling it? And what happens if VU win? How does everyone who'se already brought it on Steam get their copy?

  20. Impulse Control on Peter Molyneux Apologizes for Fable · · Score: 0

Peter Molyneaux needs to stop talking full stop. He has been responsible for some fantastic games but everyone I know agrees that he comes accross like a complete smug tit in every interview he's ever done. But I believe his forum post: he doesn't hype to get sales, he hypes because he's an excited little child who can't control himself.

The games should speak for themselves. Sometimes they will say fantastic things like Magic Carpet did, and sometimes they will sound exactly like Molyneaux himself (Black and White).

  21. Out of proportion on Nintendo DS Network · · Score: 0

If this is true at all, I think people are taking it way out of proportion. What sounds way more likely to be true is this: if the DS has a range of 10 metres, you only have to be within ten metres of one person, who has to be within ten metres of someone else etc etc. i.e. One DS can pass through wireless info to other DSes.

This feature would be useful, surely feasible, and might well reduce the ammount of battery the wireless net uses (by cutting down the necessery max range of each device). Unlike this "massive distended network" the article points to, which surely (a) would take too much battery and (b) have very transient reception on most places due to users moving around (remember you'll be playing the DS on the bus).

Finally though: I am one massive supporter of the DS: I think it's pretty much the most exciting thing to happen to gaming in ten years.

Very good, clap clap, you can do all that. But the average gamer won't, and what the PC really needs right now is a standard Joypad. If we can use the cheap, well made, well designed XBox pads out of the box, that will be a step on the road there. Omroth
