  1. OC3? on Will Video Surfing Become Reality? · · Score: 1

Wow, reading this article you would have thought the average "video-surfer" was on an OC3...

You have to fight these battles, they are worth winning.
It's really simple. All the warning labels are there.
If you develop under Linux be prepared to abide by the GPL and open your source. If not pay the consequences.
Companies gain from Linux in that it is less expensive to implement and has a fairly large following.
By complying by the GPL they will give up their right to their "IP" but they will not give up the support of many of their user base. Which is definitely well-founded in the Linux/UNIX world.

    IMHO.

  6. Interesting... on iTunes Indie Meeting Notes · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Interesting statistics revealed were that there are about 500k songs/week being downloaded from the iTunes Music store and that 45% of songs are being purchased as albums.

Not so interesting when you take into account the majority of people using iTunes and purchasing digital songs are mac users and will blindly purchase something they could obtain for free if only they had even the slightest clue about what a "computer" was.

I only hope the teachers of this program can prepare themselves to be attacked, cracked, whacked, and smacked. The first target is "Master" for each and every "grasshopper" to prove his worth and abilities. Sorry about all the "" quote marks! :oP

How does can an effective teacher control the use of the knowledege she/he places in the hands of adolesents?

Your analogy is wrong, this is more closely like a chemistry teacher teaching how to make bombs, a physics teacher how to make projectile weapons, and a music teacher how to make rap music.

If this class was about computer security then your analogy would hold true.
