Tenzin Gyatso, the current Dalai Lama, thought in his youth that Buddhism and Communism could be fused to create an even more ideal society for his people, the Tibetans. He realized soon enough that Mao had no love for Buddhism, and that he truly was the "Destroyer of the Dharma".
I doubt that the rest of the world will ever let any nation even try the notion of communism again, because of the fear it seems to invoke.
After the summer I notices that a lot of awesome games were release in the past year: Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2, FEAR, and SC Chaos Theory. I wanted to play every one of them, but my computer couldn't touch them without frustrating me.
So? A new motherboard, CPU, video card(Geforce 7800 GT), and a gig of ram cost me CAD$1500. God was a happy for a long time...Practically pissing my pants while playing FEAR at 3am.
As for Halo 2, I don't really like it enough to upgrade just to play it on PC. Sorry, but I'll keep playing it on Xbox for now.
"Happiness is not the absence of hardship. It is the mastery of it."
I don't remember who it is who said that(someone remind me), but I do my best to think that way as often as I can.
Improve your way of dealing with difficult situations, and you'll have better results with fewer worries. Better results and fewer worries means more happiness.
Our emotions are our call. When anything happens, we have a split second to decide how it will make us feel, and as a result, out actions are altered. It takes a little practice in our self-awareness to notice this. Of course, there's many reactions that can be changed, but some reactions are just right. Like how we react when a family member dies. Grief, I'd imagine, isn't unhealthy. It would probably be a good idea to notice when you're going too far, however.
Failure doesn't phase me much. I'd rather succeed and feel as happy as I like, thanks.
Yeah, I'm going there for school next year. I can only imagine what potential (non-Canadian) employers will think when they see I have a degree from the University of Saskatchewan. It even sounds funny to me, and I've been here my whole life.
On the other hand, the order of battle for the officers goes lieutenant, captain, colonel, commander, which is not similar to any existing military force structure.
It seems right untill you get to commander. Commander may be just be a title or a wash-over from the navy...they are on starships, aren't they? Mind you, I don't watch the shows.
Experience often pays off over rank. I trust the word of my RSM over my captains most of the time.
If the educated people of a democratic country don't read the instructions on the ballot (or follow them), do they really take democracy seriously in the first place? Should their vote be counted in something so delicate as choosing a leader?
Communism is an economic model that was developed by an economist(surprisingly). He never killed anyone, and he felt that the system, with the agreement of the people, would greatly benefit society. He didn't come to expect just how brutal and corrupt the human mind can become.
The times when Stalin ruled the Soviet Union were certainly tough. Killing so many people was ironic for a communist state, as it was the ultimate abuse of the 'human resource'. Therefore, this type of socialist GOVERNMENT, as brutal as it was, is titled Stalinism. Modern North Korea has often been compared to this.
There are many reasons why the Soviet government was so tightly closed. One might be that there was a war going on here or there.
I do agree that FOSS is quite chaotic.
>The essence of capitalism is free exchange The American government doesn't have many good capitalists then, if they keep slapping on resource tarrifs for its neighbors' trade items.
The 'Philisophes' during the Enlightenment pressured the remaining totalitarian leaders to respect the people's rights more. The leaders who did so (ie. Catherine the Great) were loved by the people, and even got a big name in history.
And you got somethin against totalitarian government. I suppose I do too.
1)Use exciting anime show to excite children
2)Herd the children and process brains
3)release half-assed products to the already-sucked-in
4)???
5)Profit
When I saw some 'action filled' episodes of Pokemon, I thought 'Whoa, the game must kick ass!'.
Well, sort of. After several other addictions, I can safely say that Everquest was more exciting.
Pokemon the show, in my opinion, is a fair bit better than the game...which goes to show just how bad the game is(red & blue).
I waited a good 3 years for Pokemon Stadium (N64) to hit the shelves, and when it finally did, I found it to be almost as dull as the Gameboy classic. Following well in its footsteps was Pokemon Snap... Why do console games cost $100CND when I could find a better DOS game in the back corner of my closet?
Mind you, I haven't touched the stuff in years...pokemon that is.

My entire school for the past four years.
Thank god we're updating next year though.
Wait...I'm graduating...dammit.
Does that game count include all the crappy game types that no one likes, in which half of each team drops?
I'd like to beat him with a crowbar.
Ah, so more business for you.
So you're an American physician, I take it?
$250? That's nothin.

That's quite the idea. Usually I just try to find a positive response, even if something doesn't go well. I think I'll give your plan a try, though.

You at least have landscape and buildings in the way to block the wind. South-east Saskatchewan has a whole lot of nothing in the way.

Canada's not communist. We do, however, believe that the health of society should be paid for by society.
The lightbulb was invented by an atheist. How many have you used today? Oh, and people like you were 'hanged' after WW2.

If a man says an opinion, and there's no women around to hear it, is he still wrong?
I stole that.
