As long as I can continue to use my beloved Skype without touching that pariah called Facebook I don't care what they do together. The first time they require a Facebook login or some such nonsense will be the end of my long and mutually profitable venture with Skype.
So the passengers in a vehicle would also be restricted ? I find a flaw in your logic, in the belief that the laws were passed for safety at all, instead of as a way to generate more profit for cities, and as a political grandstanding move by those seeking publicity and re-election.
Well not owning, using or having access to any of said 'Hip' devices I guess I am just totally uncool and behind the times with the 'proper' apple spellings. Did you NOT know what I meant or were you just flexing your pedantic muscles ?
I know many people with Iphones, Ipads and Ipods, nearly all of them love the devices but hate Itunes, using it as the only option available to them. Several of my more computer literate friends are unhappy with the restrictions thier Ipods place on them regarding PC transfer rights and lack of backup options for their content, but most never even consider what would happen if their device failed and won't until it does...
Althought I do have to admit my google did not "say" anything about the topic either, but rather printed some text at the top of the page. I suppose you could have been using a text reader and querying 'some other google'
I've called myself a technophile luddite for years. I love online gaming, and the web and many of the things that computers facilitate but from a user perspective they are almost a total failure. To stay with the lame car meme...you almost have to be a mechanic to even drive one, and that is just plain SAD. Some day they will be really user friendly... I always picture the Star Trek movie with Scotty trying to talk to the computer and the current day engineer, staring at him like he was a cow speaking latin:D
If the idiots in charge would just go about recovering the HUGE blocks of IP's issued to companies and entities that no longer exist this issue would not exist either, but then as someone else mentioned just implementing NAT in all the appropriate places would also avoid the issue, but from a corporate point of view, then there would be no market for NEW hardware that is IPV6 compliant and it is much harder to track activity from a NAT'd source than it would be if every electronic device in he world had its' own ip. I personally don't WANT my refrigerator feeding Safeway Inc. information on what's in my freezer box, or enabling them to target more ads based on what I buy even though I have gone to the trouble to get a members' club card under a false phone number with NO NAME associated with it... This "problem" isn't a real problem it just interfers with the corporate right to make a profit of anything they feel like...
for various people for presents and not one of them was an Ebook, or from Amazon for that matter. B&N and the local book store were the benificiaries of my business this year. I recently had a return item fiasco with Amazon...I sent the item insured and registered, they received it, and signed for it then claimed it never arrived.
Yeah that is a good thought, compound your youthful stupidity with a direct and culpable lie, that is always the way to prove to someone you've learned your lesson. As a hiring entity the best thing you could do is either don't apply, or come clean up front and put a positive spin on the issue by being proactive...
there is a difference between censorship and the expectation of polite behavior in public. While the quick response cursing due to injury is NOT unexpected, the lady wasn't out of line with her comment either.
But in California I was always payed 2 hours for responding to a page, just carrying the pager was considered a 'better' alternative to requiring after-hours onsite staff.
This was a large financial institution, and I was a Unix Systems Engineer, one among 8 or 10. Once I moved to a smaller venue, ie development lab and system support, the pager time dramatically decreased and was swapped with comp time as it arose. I don't think you are going to get payed up front for carrying the pager but you DO have a right to get payed if a response is required, and if you are required to remain within a certain distance from home or work you might have a valid issue as well. http://www.gotovertime.com/facts.html#myth_comp
How many betteries will they need and what is the ecological impact or recycle strategy and life span of said batteries ?? It seems that this might save in the short term but be a real mess in the long term.
That is why I cited a national organization devoted to dealing with abuse of children, both sexually and otherwise..hence the http link to a LEGAL definition.
"I'm not implying that the dolphin thing is a good idea, but I am implying that you're an idiot"
Try reading the response before calling someone an idiot...
What you have cited are lewd and lacivious acts but DO NOT fall under the legal term sexual abuse.
Not that I am arguing that the net isn't used by many to incite sexual abuse or as a tool to gain access to children for said purposes..but it is not my interpretation but a legal definition.
"Are 1 in 4 children really sexually abused by the Internet?"
Err NO, exactly ZERO (0) children have ever been sexually abused by the internet. Nor for that matter have any children EVER been sexually abused over the internet, on the internet, or even around the internet. The internet has undoubtedly been a tool used by sexual predators to get access or to provide information on the location of children which they would then prey upon and abuse, but just like a gun has never shot anyone by itself, a interconnected system of computers has never abused or neglected a child, it takes people to do that.... http://www.pandys.org/whatissexualabuse.html
and taking any electronice device, it HAD BETTER be sqeaky clean in terms of encryption and any sort of possibly objectionable material. Your best bet would be to get a new clean net-book, and don't forget the power adaptors. It might even make sense to get one AFTER you get their, to avoid the customs mess and any compatability issues with power. I don't recall having too much success with wireless but it has been a few years now, but there were internet cafe's all over the place so I was able to stay current with the email and such. At the time I was glad I did NOT have to carry my laptop but to each there own..
any way it works out have a great trip and DON'T be a typical American tourist PLEASE:)
Better to just image the thing with a DvD, build a restore.bat and write a 4 step recover to image job with the needed choices preselected... How ever you work it you are not going to avoid going to GrandMa's house, if having her PC worked on is how she is luring you now, she'll find another way:)
Not really complaining, just pointing out that any entity with a financial stake has an angle, and it is better all around if everyone is aware of any potential bias.
"Yardley is co-founder and CEO of Manhattan-based Pinch Media, a company that provides analytic software for iPhone games...."
I'm sure reporting greater pirating numbers is in Mr. Yardley's financial interest as well. Not to say there isn't pirating going on but when the entity reporting the pirating number derives a living from said numbers I tend to be a bit skeptical. It is like the RIAA's number's, there has to be some basis for truth in them, but you can rest assured they are massaged and slanted to show the greatest impact to the paying customer...
Explain it the same way you would to upper management, in small words and with color filled graphs and useless spreadsheets.
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away...
things have changed, the net is now a noisy place, but there is still value in /.
Believe me the decline is nothing new...
Witnessing the rise in noise to signal ratio for quite a while.

If my car flew, I'd not need roads, and I could have a HUGE LAWN *MUHAHAHAHAHAH* Perhaps the entire TRI-state area ???
Oh hello Perry the platypus
