    somthing worth seeing IF slashdot hadn't just sold itself to a soul-less fsck'n bunch of vultures at DICE. As it stands now there is barely anything worth reading here much less anyone worth driving 35 miles to visit in SF. Good luck to those that choose to attend.

    They were filming for an episode of Bar Rescue. The owner had authorized the production company to place cameras and mic's everywhere to track the employees, which incidently tracked every patron in the bar as well. When I pointed out that I felt it was an invasion of my privacy the manager told me I was paranoid, while that may be... my four friends and I made sort of a scene and numerous other patrons became involved. The bottom line was about 9 people got up and went across the street to another bar to finish up the evening. I have not nor will I ever go back to Nick's. I doubt we'll affect the bottom line but I also doubt that was the effect the owner was hoping for.

    go for apple, they do the UI well, and they are generally reliable, but I for the life of me can't even begin to see why a techie would put up with the insane control freaks at apple when you can control your own device and OS using android.
    If you can't program your vcr, or if you still have one Apple is the fruit for you.

    My personal issue is not with the health of the food item but rather the long term concerns with the chemicals used. I am not looking towards an organic peach to be better, just not to be coated in a chain of chemicals that will interact in ways I can't even begin to predict the long term results of...

    I generally buy fruit and vegetables at the farmers' market because of price and ripeness, and the fact that my money stays local with a farmer instead of into a multinational's bottomless pockets.

    driving and other things ?? You've never had someone talking at you/to you while you were trying to text, or any number of "other things" that cause your attention to waver...say that PHAT princess that just walked by...
    The texting and driving laws recently passed are useless grandstanding laws passed by politicos that are attention whores by definition. The generic driving laws cover driving and performing any actions which draws your attention away from the dangerous job of driving.

    That is exactly what I did...Watched a few brief minutes of a poorly pirated copy, got a good laugh and decided it was worth seeing. I dragged my retired parents along for a lark and we all 3 loved it. Without seeing that few minutes of the pirated copy I never would have convinced the parents to see it so actually the pirated version GENERATED 2 more paid theater views.

    Why aren't the complaints being directed at the true source of the pollution ? The electricity provider which is busy pointing the finger at as many strawmen as they can find, to try and hide the fact that they are still producing their product using technology developed in the late 1800's and early 1900's because it is soooo much cheaper.

    That my friend was happening in the first 6 months of Slashdot's life. The real question is which came first, the slashdot, or the slashbot ?
    Any site which echo's the news is going to be a lot of crap, but slashdot had, and still has a slice of originality, and more basically a kernel of a community, pun intended...
