It is exactly what you speculated. Daily Ops turnover from 7/24 operations and support sites. Tech support, output/peripheral services, batch support, application support, building management, security plus the managers from each area. The scope is fairly narrow and as calls this size go very organized. It occurs 3 times a day, but the off shifts attendance is much smaller.
It is the daily operations turnover call. It connects the large DC's and the remote operations centers. Tech support, operations support, batch operations and the remote support sites. We cover anything and everything that is part of the daily schedule, on-going outages, and scheduled tasks and repairs. I agree it is inefficient but better than email as there are often up to the minutes status given and questions that need to be asked by the oncoming shift about tasks in progress.
Daily operations turnover call, run 3 times a day connecting all the DC's, and remote operation sites. There are far fewer 'attendees' for the swing and mid shift calls.
I run a daily turnover conference/teleconference call every day with about 40 lines, and maybe 100 people. When we get to the end, the part where I say anyone have anything else, I then say okay everyone have a good day and hang up the phone, and disconnect the video server window. Seems pretty straight forward. The worst part of running a large hybrid call is not saying good-bye but getting a decent roll call and herding the cats into discussing what's on the agenda while keeping the side talk to a minimum. I spend a moderate amount of effort corralling people by saying can't that be discussed offline or taken to email...
I've a house in Concord, about 35 miles east of SF. I can scuba, surf, water ski, snow ski, hit a club in SF, San Jose, go to a farmers market or ranch. I work for company that has offices in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Texas, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as internationally in numerous countries. One thing I will say is I can go outside for lunch and grab a random stranger who is more qualified than many of the 'specialists' we hire to work in our remote sites. I spend about 4 months of the year in Yuma, AZ with the snow birds working remotely and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Northern California is just an awesome place, Granted California has many issues, like the parasitic South, LA and the Hollywood set are reprehensible, but the central valley is cool, and the extreme north has the Trinity, I love me some green skunk weed. Some day I'd like to have a place in mountains of Colorado, but until you can truly get great broadband and live off the grid it is unlikely.
What do you think about fighting for the rights your family and friends enjoy ? While aspects of the US government are parasitic and 'evil' others maintain roads, libraries, schools, and the right for us 'citizens' to sit around and bitch about anything without worry of being shot...yet
I think that 3-6 months before a soldier is due to muster out they should be transferred to a non-combat zone an allowed time to decompress as well as all personnel leaving a combat zone should be required to undergo counselling. Thus there would be not stigmata attached to those that actually need/deserve such treatment. Going straight from a combat environment back into standard civvie life is a huge mistake on the part of the USA armed forces. I also thing the way the government treats veterans and their benefits is shameful and criminal.
If I could count on my rent being made and some or all of my monthly expenses I would start making beef jerky on a more than pastime basis. I'd also volunteer more than 1 day a week at the animal rehab preserve, I specialize in snakes and lizards. I also spend one day a week as a library volunteer reading to kids and indexing the books in their book store. I think most people would not just quit doing things but would find more personally fulfilling things to do with their time that wouldn't normally make enough money to warrant or allow them to devote the effort. Imagine musicians, writers and countless other creative pursuits which could arise.
Nah hate is to strong a word, and too much effort. I've been an admin or supported so many damn system types and languages over they years that I just use whatever tool I need for the job, or system required. From PDP's to MVS, through Sun/OS to VMS and to Tandems, *nix and M$. I find it hard to generate the effort to hate anything these days. Just easier to work on what you like, such as pot, a cold brew, and the GF.
Trumplstiltskin may very well be making things up, AND in league with the Russians, but he IS the president, for better or worse, so even if he is spewing crap the US needs to hear it. As for CNN and Fox and almost every other so called news network that is actually opiniotainment I wish they'd all DIAF.
An atomizer is not aromatic but is the equivalent of a vaporizer using THC oil instead of vegetative matter or hash. A vaporizer is for Hash, either waxy H2O or butane processed, or ground vegetative matter. Both methods produce large deeply satisfying clouds of THC laden goodness. I do still occasionally use my bong or smoke a joint in a social situation, but rarely. I am from Nor-Cal and have been in a coop situation for 20 years now. As advanced as Colorado is becoming the Trinity in far Northern California is still the center of POT USA:) The best way I know to get pot into edibles is through infused butter. You can have pot 'anything' that way:) .
I certainly wasn't given a choice or paid for the right of way forced on me when the cable company came through and ran an underground trough in my backyard a couple of years ago. In fact they took out a section of my fence and I had to fix it at my own expense. I despise Spectrum, they outright lie in their ads, provide a poor service and charge though the a$$ for it. If you complain that it fails to live up to their promise they will reply you can always do without. I really miss the SF bay area where I had multiple selections for a provider so they had to at least make an 'minor' effort or you could jump ship.
Smoking ANYTHING is bad news. Vaporizing or atomizing is better but certainly not good for anything but your 'head' and attitude. Just like grilling meat is not 'good' for you, but is damn tasty. Just do things in moderation, even moderation:)
Don't need to build the towers just deploy the cells and the dedicated frequencies. The point is leveraging the existing commercial networks puts the traffic at the mercy of the general flow which is subject to collapse at 50% usage, extreme slow down during said emergencies, or corporate 'management'.
Some of the cost could be passed on to the corporate frequency and spectrum holders as part of their licensing agreement. Additionally we could tie in FEMA at the federal level, state and county resources at the local level, with the municipalities picking up a small share as well.
This isn't Net Neutrality issue, but is a utility vs commercial service issue. Fire, police and other emergency services phone data networks should NOT be on a commercial service but on a municipal utility service dedicated for just that purpose. Such a dedicated service should probably be maintained at a state level and the connected to a different network. Allowing emergency services traffic to be carried by a standard commercial carrier is a short sighted and stupid mistake. Police and fire communication is on a separate radio band and forbidden for general use why would a new medium not be the same ?
By your definition we should be censoring books, shutting down libraries and forbidding people from discussions in coffee shops, and book clubs everywhere. I am not suggestion that calling on people to kill one another or openly inciting to riot should be allowed, but those kind of sources need to be identified and pointed out by the legal authorities and then removed by Facebook. Facebook should not be responsible for the determination of what meets that criteria. After all what IS hate speech ? Something you hate to hear ? What is obscenity ? Should Toyota be responsible for the hit and run of pedestrians ?
People who read, post and believe the shit that other idiots post on Facebook can incite and participate in violence, but I've never seen Facebook at any demonstrations or protests. I do see a point at which Facebook can promote or discount certain stories in the general news feed that can lead to greater or lesser exposure of a viewpoint.
Yes I do but its' value is still compared to and hugely effected by a market that is ruled by currency speculation, and innuendo as much as actual performance. A butterfly shits in Katmandu and a financial speculator with questionable skills and knowledge decides that a large corporation wasn't up to par and the entire market shivers.

The music industry and the sampled rebroadcast crap they call music for the most part are the biggest danger to the music industry today.

We're not talking Hemp but Sativa or Indica. Hemp has a low THC/CBD content and is generally for textiles, rope and cloth.
