I think this is one futuristic invention we can put on the shelf.
Does anyone really need/want it? I have 2 or 3 friends with webcams. Very occassionaly we'll turn them on, have fun with them for an hour tops and then turn them off for a month.
It just isn't that entertaining to see the person you are talking to. It's uneccessary information and kind of defeats some of the advantages to having a phone.:)
I can think of a lot better uses of our bandwidth.
My opinion, I'll never use one. But that's just my opinion.
I'm going to go out on a limb here....

I believe this is obvious proof that Mars used to have oceans. Yes, oceans. And because they had oceans, they had life. And because they had life, they had Elephants. Only they weren't called Elephants. They were called Marlaphants.
If you need reference for the legality of a monopoly in regards to consumer interest, please check out US vs. E.C. Knight.
Here's a link to get you started...
http://www.landmarkcases.org/gibbons/usec.html It was the supreme courts opinion that there was no evidence that EC Knight was attempting to restrict trade or commerce with their market share. Therefore, EC Knight was allowed to merge giving them a 95% share in sugar manufacturing in the US. Less than 30 years later their share was down to 20%.
They die. A monopoly can only be sustained by force (ie, consumers or legal actions)
Even those that screw the consumer in the short run die. The only lasting monopolies are government run. (US Postal Service)
Microsoft is going to lose their monopoly. They can't keep the ball running eternally. It won't happen because the EU slaps a retarded fee on their backs (which will no doubt get passed on to the consumer).
The simple fact is, if their product sucks as bad as we all know it does it won't keep the consumer's interest. They are going to move on. It may seem like it is a slow process but it is picking up speed.
What some seem to miss is the fact that having a monopoly is not patently illegal. In order to take legal action the government must be able to prove that the company is screwing their customers by abusing their market position.
I personally don't feel that any of the unethical, standard hijacking things they've done qualify as monopoly abuse given the nature of the service they provide. (I say Microsoft should be able to control the software that is run on their system just like Coke can sue the pants off you if you put peps in their coolers)
That will be for the courts to decide but I don't really trust them these days. They seem more interested in punishing smart business moves. I've never felt that fines punished anyone but me. I highly doubt the execs at Microsoft are going to say, "We'll just take this one for the team. We deserve it." They'll get that money back one way or another. It won't be to my benefit.
My experience with dual monitors has showed me its use for multitasking, but I can't think of anything more horrid than trying to span a game across it.
Even my multitasking ends up dividing entertainment from work... My GAIM windows and media players go in monitor 2 while my real work stays in number one.
This comes from the "I don't have an intelligent opinion but I'm going to try to get FP anyway." departement.
Either that or you are truly a conspiritorial nut job.
They'll find the guy. It's hard to not get caught releasing something like this. Think about it, a small number of copies...small number of networks. They've got the tools for the job. Tracing him (or her) may be fairly easy.
If you don't like MS's products DON'T USE THEM. No one is forcing you. And for you whiney companies out there who are suing Microsoft, change platforms. If your product is viable it will sell just as well on Apple...or...*gasp* an open source platform.
Everything has to be a lawsuit. What's next? Coke is going to sue Pepsi for not allowing them to store their beverages in Pepsi equipment? GM is going to sue ford for not having standard brakes?
For some reason in the realm of software both consumers and developers think they are entitled to whatever they want. No other market works that way. By refusing to stop using Microsoft products and just suing them...they prolong microsoft.
It's just stupid and I'm tired of hearing this shit.
There are always ways to improve code. Much of the time you'll end up with a much smaller, much more efficient, much more extensible application.
Rewriting is almost always a good thing. The rules of writing english papers apply here.
At a certain point, certain portions will mature to the point that they can't or needn't be improved with each successive version. If you're content with the architecture, you'll reach this stage. But not many applications can evolve to new heights with the same diagram/layout it started with 5 years ago.
That Verisign's site finder is a brazen abuse of their power as a service provider.
It's a cheap ploy to get billions of hits to a VeriSign controlled page.
I have 0 respect for Verisign...they have long established they will discard customer concern for any perceived increase in money.
Video rental copies are licensed for rental. I wonder what the legality of them giving them to you is.
I don't know, I'm just posing quiestions which I refuse to try to answer.
How about them yankees?
chkdsk is windows.
I doubt they are running windows.

Yeah, Marlaphants.
Anyone taking bets?
...that we all switch to BSD just to be safe.
Who's with me?

All through the natural forces of the market.
Anyhoo, just some thoughts.
Then again you are misreading what I said.
Ask any historians what happens to Monopolies.

I get the distinct impression the EU is out to make an example of them and fine them ridiculously.
I'm not a Microsoft fan boy, but it doesn't appear to me they are getting a good rap.
I say screw it. Whats happened happened. If Microsoft is bad they will fail all by themselves. They don't need the rule of laws help.

I just don't see how that would be any fun.
Wifi is an akward way to release something this large, but let's just suppose that was indeed where it originated.
They'll instantly have a hold on the exact location you used.
They also did their best to determine who managed to get into the system, and it seems unlikely that was done in a parked car.
Sure, there are ways to make it a lot harder but no one can completly cover their tracks.
Just look how effectively they've gone through a million email logs and traced back mass mailing viruses to their owner with in days..who'd a thunk.

Wow, you guys totally screwed my server. :-D
40 days of uptime down the tubes.
This isn't supposed to happen to NetBSD.
That was fast.
Maybe peer review will send a flurry of discovered holes to Microsoft for them to patch.
Maybe this will be positive for all of mankind!
Or maybe I'm crazy.
So that's how they does it. I personally use my mouth. I'm sure I'll regret it someday.
by the world's highschool girls. Jabber will now be synonomous with "Instant Messaging" in American highschools.
That was like a stampede!!

This is just a poor attempt to get noticed.
I'd rather use the Cat in the Hat.

Is this compound superior to our own super glue?
Will it set as fast? One of the advantages of traditional super glue is that it uses minute amounts of water on each surface to cause it to set.
Or is this academic only and no one is suggesting we work on replacing our current solution.
In short: What is the significants of this find, out side of academia?
I'd like to see a bewolf cluster of...hims.
I download it, double click on the .exe, click next a few times and restart?
Thanks,
