it shouldnt be hard to compete with the greedy likes of sbc/comscast/etc on price/bandwidth ratio...everything google does need not be free to be a success
i am a coding ignoramus, so please excuse if this is a stupid question. does this require a complete rewrite of existing code ? if so, is there something that will cache transparently so that a code rewrite is not necessary ? thanks !
but I work on XP Sp2 machines all the time with no administrator password. of course I try to convince the user to change that, but mostly they dont want the hassle
not much of the US power comes from hydro or nuclear ?
did you even bother to google before making such a stupid statement
"Today, nuclear power plants--the second largest source of electricity in the United States--supply about 20 percent of the nation's electricity each year."
exchange is only useful if you need the shared calendaring/scheduling/etc that it provides. otherwise, a linux box running courier-imap, your choice of webmail interface, and exim/postfix/etc is going to be a LOT cheaper and the free solution does not have the artificial 16gb limit on storage (soon to be 75) outlook works wonderfully with courier-imap. just make sure you have a REALLY nice battery backup on all parts of the wan connection and the email server so when the lights go out, the mail keeps flowing...and a backup MX record too
did your post help at all ?
just because you cant think of a reason to run your own server doesnt mean "There is really no good reason to run a mail server on your own machine". Why do people like you even bother replying. your post was pointless.
a smarthost really is the most practical solution to this for now, until the climate of the internet changes (never?)
the US has DST too. we are not talking about just starting to use it. we have DST and manage easily as well, and have for many years. if you RTFA, you will see that we are talking about a CHANGE in DST, which will affect devices that have DST hard coded. you can now return to your regularly scheduled US bashing.
he did not say hydrogen was an energy source. he said we would see hydrogen trade. stop frothing at the mouth for a second to actually read the response.
fine. you have your soapbox and are screaming from the top of the hill. its just that the rest of us know it wont be so dramatic as you are prohesizing. it never is.
If you plan on running Adaptec SATA controllers and Hitachi SATA drives, do some extensive testing first. We ran into a confirmed nasty bug between the two. One that Adaptec and Hitachi have no intention of fixing.
Oh yeah, and there is no such standard as SATA-II. Serial ATA International Organization. SATA-IO. And its not supposed to be binary for TWO as a previous poster has surmised.
did you just say...that for most people, Internet Explorer is virus and pop up free ?

not sure if it will compile on other systems
ISPs are addicted to their tight fisted, stingy ass pricing models
why the hell would they let go of that control ? bastards
when a cheaper, higher speed wireless or BoPL service starts causing lost customers,
then maybe we will see real competition
i was thinking more in terms of pre-built cms suites like drupal, etc. would memcached help with this type of environment where the backend is mysql ?
something where I never touch the code, but want improved performance

why dont you return your warez version of xp for the real one that does not default to 48 services running. or is that hyperbole ?
actually sounds like netbios over tcp/ip wasnt enabled, rather than an AD issue. check the NICs properties under tcp/ip advanced wins. my 2cents
ive installed office 2003 about 50 times. never asked for a reboot. takes friken forever though.

its not a stupid discussion. there is concern that an out of the box sp2 installed is vulnerable. do you know the answer ?
