11.10 and the kmail debacle drove me off KDE and Kubuntu. Kmail2 was broken across several distros, so I don't blame Canonical for that, but they sure as hell didn't have anyone testing the kmail migration with any amount of mail. I moved to Lubuntu w/ Thunderbird (there's a python script floating around that converts kmail maildir to Thunderbird mbox) and Chrome and haven't looked back. Was able to move all but the last couple of months of kmail messages into Thunderbird. It's nice to have my computer back, not 99% consumed w/ running mysqld and nepomuk/virtuoso.
Long time KDE fan and Kubuntu user, tried KDE 4.0 in Hardy, expecting that a lot more apps would have been ported over. Didn't like the frame around Konsole and the Panel is so locked down it's not nice to use. After a hard drive in my LVM died I reinstalled Hardy with KDE 3.5.9 and it was really nice to be back there. I'll wait for 4.2 at least...
What's the difference between Kontact and KContacts (he mentioned that in the article)?
Initially, Adept couldn't download the release notes. I had to restart it a few times until it found a server that was responding. I let it run overnight, said OK to a few config file changes when prompted (it even shows you a diff of the files) and let it reboot. When it came back up everything still worked and it's running fine. Great work Canonical and the Kubuntu team!
It would take over 2 months of 24/7 uploading to fill that 250GB allotment. Off site backups are critical if you're going to do it right, maybe get a couple of those firewire enclosures with a 1TB drive. Keep one in a safety deposit box, one at home, backup and rotate once a month...
I left KDE after 10 years because of their totally botched migration to the new kmail. Moved from kubuntu to lubuntu w/ Thunderbird. It just works.
Hopefully it won't have kmail2...

I don't use a "third party" operating system, unless you're referring to Windows?
Obviously the "smarter" group wasn't encumbered with Lotus Notes. What a POS.
Soundtrack by Triptykon?

Compare the md5sum of files in the original ISO to the files on the CD-R. You are keeping the original ISOs on spinning disks somewhere, right?
Now that's a funny sig.
and I will spank that robotic ASS!

My bad, I meant Jamie Lynn Spears. Younger sister of formerly popular pop star.
Well, I guess they can take her off the TODO list.

Has anyone done the Adept managed upgrade from 7.04? I'm about to try it out.
