    Nah. I'm waiting for one that converts the filesystem to an encrypted filesystem of its own, and makes all disk access go through itself first.

    No way will it let you remove itself. If you boot off of some sort of safe media and delete the thing, the computer no longer has the ability to read any of its data.

    Yeah, I know I messed up the jargon, but I'm sure I'll be corrected on that. :P

    Well, it was the standard. However, that standard has now been upgraded and is not backwards compatible. The new standard is to just pay Microsoft money. However this standard is unfortunately incompatible with many slashdot users and is currently being rewritten to be as inclusive as possible.

    The actual reason:
    Because it runs on an OS not dependent on any one source? Because it supports a standard?

    I figured those two were obvious. Anything that supports a standard must be evil and communistic! I'm pretty sure netcraft confirmed that...

    Goodbye, TSS, CFH, Tech Live (The only news program I watched) and Thunderbirds. Goodbye Netcam Network, Call in Friday and Help-a-thons. I loved TechTV when it was still Tech.

    Who cares? I'm going to guess that the mods who read the post. I too find it interesting because I've had similar experiences.

    If it was modded Insightful, or Funny you would have reason to complain. It wasn't. It wasn't rated Insightful. It was rated Interesting. Because it is.

    Ah, but that's the thing. The click through contract would be completely void. It shouldn't be held against you.

    And on packages that say something like "Breaking this seal indicates whatever..." I tend to like to pull the front off the case and remove the cd that way, thus leaving the tape intact and in place.

    Now repeat after me...

    I do not update every 30 minutes. I update 30 minute after I boot my computer (or once a day if it's already on). Okay. Now you say it. ;)

    Not every 30 minutes. Besides, if something screws up, I'll just add a bug to whatever buglist deserves it. But I've been doing this for some time now. I've never had any problems with it. I figure sooner or later I'm going to update those packages anyway.

    Just out of curiosity, but if you we're to use a hex editor to change "I Agree." to "Disagree" and Visa Versa, what would they do then? If you click the Disagree button wouldn't it go ahead and install all of the software even though you disagreed? Of course that's just a thought. A judge wouldn't find that very funny...

    Just try what I try. I have a anacron job setup to run after my computer has been on 30 minutes.

    apt-get update
    apt-get upgrade -y

    I don't have to do it manually anymore because I have it set to update everyday. I trust the maintainers. Besides, while it's doing that I'm usually watching MacGyver...

    Of course I will admit that some valid points have been raised on both sides of the Windows v. Linux packaging debate.

    I agree. The company was most likely built off hits from Google. Do they really want to bite the hand that feeds it? Google could try and settle for a little cash, but it would be much wiser to fight them with many, many attorney's. Kinds of scares off anyone else that just wants to get rich quick.
