    Recently, he installed a Mosquito ultrasonic noise device as an apparent attempt to 'get back at us' for our harassment. ... Unfortunately, because the police also can't hear it, we can't get the authorities to do anything about it, leaving us empty-handed in our attempts at getting some peace and quiet back.


    Yeah. Well, at least you've figured out that he's really the one who is paranoid. Silly old man who's plotting against you, using devices the police can't hear... Thankfully, he's the only paranoid one here...

    In all seriousness though, XP isn't nearly as prone to BSODs ( or any other color :P ) , as 9x was. I'd still prefer my Debian or Gentoo though.

    No one (well, at least the majority here) isn't asking for developers to give away all code that they develop. We are asking however that companies / individuals quit attacking groups that do want to give away their work.

    However, the inverse also holds true. If you give the music industry an inch, they'll take the whole ruler. I believe the attempt to DRM different forms of media are sufficient proof of this.

    Personally, I do not download music via any P2P services. A number of different (undiscovered) musicians host all of their music on their websites. It does not short change them or myself. We both enjoy the other.

    Digikam does that pretty much for me. I have every picture that contains myself, my parents, my sister and a very good friend of mine labeled. If I want to see all the pictures from a date, I can. If I want to see all the pictures with myself, I can. All of my scenic pictures, I can. My portfolio? I can.

    I can see how this would be useful on windows, however.

    Many of the computers that I have worked on in the past are turned off when I get there. Many are on standby. Probably half and half. I know my parents turn off the computer when it isn't being used. I leave mine in low power mode.

    Personally, I just have a motto that goes something like "Keep your file system organized." That takes away my need to search. I keep music in a organized folder of its own. Same goes for pictures, video and any kind of archive files I might have.

    Personally, I really don't see anything new in this. I don't see anything creative.

    I can mount a directory on another computer to local directory and act just as if it is on my own computer. I can do the same with devices. I can search files. I can create links and symlinks.

    The only real change I see is trying to make drive letters disappear. And even then I have a feeling people and manuals will say things like Home->Games->Duke Nukem Forever instead of C:\Games\Duke Nukem Forever.

    Granted I DO NOT know everything. I am willing to be corrected if I am wrong.

    Nobody ever says "because I just bought a copy from some guy on the side of the road." Do they really expect people to say "Because I pirate software?"
