    I just put in my order for 1lb. of the Non-decaf, whole-bean vareties. Considering that I pay about $10-11 per lb anyway, this is a pretty good deal. Now, if a Micro-brew would do the same...

    no matter how many rules the FCC lays down regarding CLECs, I (as the LEC), can come up with 10 miles of paperwork to push to the CLEC when they want to provision a line. It's a useless gesture.

    I may really be naive about this, but if MS was serious about "Trustworthy" computing, then you'd see "MS AntiVirus" on their products page.

    Then again... who'd use it? It'd let 1/2 the viruses through.

    In my opinion, it all comes down to what you said, "responsibility" in the political process.

    I get into rant-fests with people from time to time about, "The Government is corrupt! Get these bums out of there!", and I can only reply, "the Government is YOU. It starts with YOU, and ENDS WITH YOU."

    Typically, I these people I argue with are not voters. The usual response to a question about why they don't vote is, "Because it doesn't matter." or something equally insane.

    My prime focus right now is, and I hate to use this, but, "Getting out the vote".

    I don't care who a person votes for, that's their business. All I care about is that people VOTE. Vote for Bush, Vote for Gore, vote for your Aunt Milly, I don't care. Just Vote.

    this guy spent 18 years in the biz, only to have to train his 'less expensive' replacements.

    I'm sure I'll be in the same boat sooner than later, however, I refuse train anyone. If upper-manglement wants to replace me with some cheap labor, THEY can figure my code out.

    Normally, I like to keep political views away from /. so I'll try to keep this as benign as possible.

    My personal opinion about heating up NASA: Tie it into the War(!) on Terror. The rocket scientists at our beloved space agency need to come up with a plan to catch terrorists from space.

    Perhaps a space-based railgun, or a manned Osama Bin Laden tracking gizmo based on Mars?

    but, I wouldn't have found out about bands like The White Stripes, which I have enjoyed listening to since Elephant hit usenet about 2 months ago (my legit cd just came via amazon today, really)
    or other bands I like, such as:

    Splashdown (r.i.p)
    Ivy
    Hooverphonic
    Beth Orton
    Marine Research (Heavenly, Talula Gosh, et al)

    if it weren't for music swapping services, usenet, napster, ag, or others.

    I've spent more money on CDs in the last three years than I have in the last 10. The RIAA can come up with as much fud as they want, but I'm not buying it.

    Thank GOD the indies are making progress.
