  2. You miss one point though on Imagine A UN-Run Internet · · Score: 1

no one has control the net, as the current model stands, you can put up a site with your views that could be radical, and private networks can censor that or allow it, depending on the network..
with the proposed model, you can have a site like that, but then you'd get arrested and punished accordingly by whichever government wanted your head for that site. your site would be forcibly removed, and you could lose your computer just as well.
many people see the internet as just a virtual little world, but it can also lead to stuff that can effect your daily lives, that's how big it's gotten as well.
also, read the list of countries that want this.. they're all either close to a dictatorship or socialist regime that wants to control things anyways. like they said before, communists dont use bombs to win wars, they use infiltration and brainwashing, might be an "american" saying, but it's true, and It doesnt just apply to communists, it applies to anyone who wants to get control over your daily lives these days, since nowadays, a war on a grand scale to take people over is unheard of, it's going to be a silent creeping type of war, fought by politicians.

the internet might have small networks, but at least you cont have to fear putting up your opinion online without fearing some punishment in most truly free countries.

is the UN. the UN headed up by a buncha european countries, who have only interest in europe mostly, who want to start controlling everyone slowly, at least the us is its own country, the un is several countries with the same idea. these people have been kicked around by so much crap in the past 2 millenia, that now, they'll do anything to eventually control your lives.
I knew this probably would evntually happen, also, the whole europe uniting thing is an obvious step towards domineering peoples' lives in the long run..
bad enough when 1 country pulls something like this, but when a bunch of them do it all at one, it's bad.
this is not a good move at all. this means you could do something that would be considered legal in your country, but say, it's not legal in arabia, you could face their punishments for doing something illegal.
Personally, I see this as a step to start controlling EVERYONE, even the non-un countries.
Many people never have listened to me before on this, but the more I see it, it's beginning to look like the whole world government conspiracy again. except it's becoming obviously a reality.
first, unite a continent into one super country, second, start controlling a common international medium, to force your views and laws onto people, then start forcing other countries into your influence.. then eventually leading up into one huge super country.. many people have accused the US of trying to do this, except the us hasnt pulled anything this drastic.

So, basically, doesnt matter which country you're in, you could still face international laws if you do something considered "bad" in the eyes of some random country.

and we were worried that the us would try to take our freedoms away.

I say someone needs to start a new internet network, one that is truly "Opensourced"
the current internet is meant to be an open source of communication, but that's getting taken away.

so someone needs to start brewing up a second internet network, and start pulling some strings to get it in effect. because the internet as it stands is about to go to hell and a handbasket thanks to some political agendas.
thanks again politicians... for ruining everyone's lives again. no matter what event happens, the people get screwed once again.

viruses are actually pretty awseome considering what some of them do, the ingeniousness behind them is prolly why they called them "marvelous"

it also keeps competent software makers on their toes to make a more secure and virus free system, most virii dwell on security holes and architecture plagues. (eg, everything windows has to offer)
there's one virus that wins them all, it's that one that has polymorphic code, meaning it can execute on any system on a specific architecture..
a virus like that could be handy because it could help bridge the gap between most operating systems in compatibility..

sometimes with the bad you get the good..
example, when the soviets launched sputnik, this was a "bad" thing for americans, 2 reasons, nuclear weapons being launched from space, and ego.

so, in light of that, (D)ARPA was formed, then came the arpanet, which led to the internet.

so good does come out of seemingly bad events.
virus writing can be considered an art in some cases, considering... especially if someone found out how to make one that could attack any linux system no matter what. now that would be scary, but would show skill.

gonna try to use it for either an included app or and add-on to my floppy based distro (it's only a 100k server)
The main problem with XFree86 is the developers are trying to create a closed environment for a somewhat open project, they dont want any changes besides their own. even if the suggested changes are better than anything the developers could ever pull out of their asses, and they do this whilst adding features no one will really ever use, I dont see too many people even using X as a network graphics system, people usually use a vnc to do all their work with, people use X as a local graphics system, so, what's needed is that someone needs to include a graphics system that does what a graphics system should do. run graphical apps, xfree runs just about anything under the sun.
there's some functions I like in xfree, but, a lot of them I see as useless.
and that's what many "outside" developers think, and when they try to make a change, or add a new feature or even try to optimise the code, they get told to shut the hell up and go back to fiddling with their little bits of code.

Basically, the Xfree86 devs are afraid of any change that isnt their own. Afraid the change will break their work or put them out of the spotlight of ego, basically their position on the project.

He also reassured me with the credentials of the company's "Advisory Board".

that shows how credible he is, most internet companies are dead now, and didnt really do much of anything, most pump and dumped stock, or did some pointless thing online..
could this by what he's trying to aciever here? create a vaporware system, then get investors, and pump and dump stock until he's flat out rich off an idea that isnt copyrighted or anything? or is he just an over-enthusiastic geek that has been to mini-itx.com and zophar.net one too many times?
who knows? this system doesnt look all that great any ways if it's (doubtedly) real.
Besides, there would be commercials for it by now.. with no real advertisement (eg, tv commercials, ads in magazines, etc, not going by word of mouth or news stories) no real franchise deals, or any concrete proof and someone answering the phone screaming "WHO THE FUCK IS THIS!?!?! I'LL SUE YOU" Isnt a convincing campaign whatsoever.
In the end, we'll sit back and laugh at the morons who actually bought into the hype and it will prove that people, no matter how many times it's been shown before, will buy into hype no matter what. This is the drive that fuels companies like microsoft, people dont learn that well from past mistakes, they have to come up behind the horse and get the shit kicked outta them 3 or 4 times before they learn "OOOOH, so I dont go behind the horse and try to push him to make him go!"
