Apple didn't "force" this moron to buy an iPod.
Quite right, but his point is that Apple is forcing him to buy an iPod in order to play the music he has already purchased.
You show a kid movies like Rambo, the Godfather, or Scarface, hes gonna grow up to be violent. Monkey see, monkey do. We've have scientific evidence proving this.
Because people have thought we could beat aging before and they were wrong? It seems that Olshansky's theme here is that there have been many people in the past who have believed (in one form or another) that we could beat mortality, and they died. Before it was actually achieved, I wonder how many believed that flight was for the birds alone simply because others had already tried and failed?
So its just speculation that Oprah Winfrey talks about teenagers engaging in oral and anal sex and draws no fine?
Actually, yes, that is speculation. The board Mike P. sits on is still reviewing a case against Oprah. Until they have ruled, the suggestion she draws no fine is, in fact, speculation.
Actually, in the respect of attitudes towards the US from much of the middle east, little has changed (think about who was dislodged from power in both situations). As long as the US has supported the state of Israel, there has been deep, wide-spread resentment; if not from all of the governments of the middle east, from much of the populace.
I would like to add to this that at that time, not one of the other (175 odd?) countries had ratified the treaty. This was essentially a "hot potato" handed to Bush by Clinton (who knew by the Senate vote that there wasn't a prayer's chance for this treaty) in the last month of his term. Pure politics.
The USPS's April fools joke this year was this exactly. Read about it here.

All Things Considered just did a story on the Iraqi educational system yesterday. I got the impression that it was pretty much devastated under the Saddam Hussein regime.
I'm not sure. Perhaps you have more insight into MS than I, but MS is IMO first and foremost a business. Businesses exist to make money for their shareholders. The point made here (quite convincingly I think) is that it is not in their best interest to invest engineering into something their customers are not requesting/do not need/want. I also agree that MS is actually in a pretty good position to scoop up more business by giving customers what they want.
Stern's official quote this morning on this issue was "I want to sleep with Kelly Ripa".
It would be time to queue the spooky music.

We do?
No one goes shopping for a music player and decides against an iPod because they want a "flash-memory player".
I just stopped reading there.

Hmmm, they are? Ok, well, I guess you learn somthing new everday, eh?

Check - toggling love/hate google switch now.
If you listened to stern on a regular basis, you would be less sure of that.

I've never wished I had mod points more than I do after reading your post. Thanks.

Great sig. I'm thinking of changing mine to: All I know about Bush is that my dog was still alive when Clinton was in office. Damn Bush to hell.
preflight my plane and I hop right into my mercedez.

This is slashdot, the appropriate question is, "Would I build one?".
Since when do "Hackers'" opinions of "cool" make a shit's worth of difference? Please.
I would've never made that bet. What a moron.
Untrue.
Actually, I'll take it a bit farther. I thought the second one was the best of the lot. It had more kung fu and less dialog.

You can do this, however you run the risk of someone else building an alternate route that will suck all traffic away from you.

Unless you are a game developer.
