Showing that it works does not really mean much. How much stuff could you pack into a laptop and still have it boot once? Take out the CD/DVD bay, or take out the hard drive and boot from a live CD, hollow out the PC card slot. Make a false battery and tell the agent your battery is dead so you have to use AC, etc.
I'd go with a laptop. It would probably be better for power, but it also gives you the ability to hike out to your favorite hill/tree/lake and work from there when it is nice outside.
I have a Targus backup also. Picked it up at Best Buy I think.
I can carry my laptop and a variety of other gadgets, all with their various adapters, as well as a couple good size reference books with some room left over. I ride a motorcycle, so a traditional bag is not an option, but the backpack provides many benefits. It leaves my hands free, it is not obvious that there is a laptop in it, it is not easy for someone to snatch it from you, and you can pack a lot of stuff in it.
Also helps with that 'young at heart' image I am working on.
It is not making it less accessable. it is not taking away any features, only adding to them.
I could also imagine this would help accessability for certain people, perhaps someone who has a very limited range of motion? This would allow them to navigate from anywhere without having to bring the mouse back up to the tool bars.
It is easy to create an Access app though. It may not be easy to create it correctly, but sometimes it does not have to be done the "right way" for it to do the job.
Of course, I would prefer that they pay me to build it correctly in the first place.
So what you are saying is that Access is bad because it is easy? That does not make sense.
I have to do this same thing on a regular basis. If you approach the existing app as a model or prototype, then build the new app from the ground up it is not a bad thing.
Every kid is different though. Some kids will strive to meet high expectations, others will blow off expectations. If they are doing it right, the parent will know when they can set guidelines, and when they must set solid rules.
I realize this, that is why I kind of disclaimed my comment in the first sentence. I'm just saying, given a choice, I would prefer the viewable/readable screen. But in reality, there is no reason it could not do both. Just a simple switch to move from one mode to the other. Or have a banner accross the top or bottom dedicated to the subliminal messages.
I realize that the point of this is memory enhancement not mobile computing, but I would prefer the information to just be left on screen long enough for me to read it. Use color coding or something so you can ignore what is on screen unless it is the topic you are presently concerned with.
I think it was really just an exercise in comparison. So many people see MS as the Evil Empire and Wal-Mart as a friendly store with yellow smiley faces.
Wal-Mart does have a significant amount of power. When Wal-Mart decides they will sell products with RFID tags, most manufacturers will start using them. Wal-Mart can make or break companies by carrying or dropping their product. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it just points out that MS is not the only huge and powerful organization.
That was my thought on reading this. I remember the first time I really started fealling old...when I hired someone born in the 1980. I had hired people born in 78-79 and never really thought much of it, but when I looked at the app and say 1980...
But back on topic, I actually like MS Streets and Trips. I will probably be stoned (no, not that kind of stoned) for advocating MS products here, but it came on my computer, and I found that I liked it, so I use it.
Possibly, read your contract and/or employee handbook. Many companies have competition clauses that would prevent you from doing work in your primary field. Many also prohibit you from having a second job without disclosure and approval.
Presumably the spam would also be required to be related to real non-profit.org business. It would also probably lead to other law suits if they tried it (false advertising, mis-representation, blah blah).
I communicate with my friends through coded slashdot posts.
If you could get it added to the bill that the records of this system will be made public for public officials, it would probably die a quick death.
Wouldn't a sizable and well managed buffer address many of these issues?

You want to correct everyone's grammar on slashdot?
I've heard some lofty goals, but this goes to a whole new level.
It is all relative. It is compact in comparison to its larger cousin the Microsoft .NET Bloated Framework.
Substitute the terminology from your working environment (supervisor/employee, etc.).
It is not making it less accessable. it is not taking away any features, only adding to them.

You can't. The glasses won't let you.

The word "billion" comes to mind.
You forgot Velcro. But we already know that came from the Vulcans.

...fire you for developing a linux program?

I want to be bought buy a platform, not by an issue.
That's Flipino lawyers, and I don't see the relevance. Everything's about race these days.

That is not redemption, that is buying a vote with an issue.
