You're probably thinking I come from a wrecked family or live in a poor part of the country, but the opposite is true. I come from a very solid family. Well, maybe that's what got you through the trauma. Not everybody has a solid family - or any family - to fall back on.

So just because something's possible, it should be legal? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Maybe there's not an easy way for MS to completely disable the add-ins without shooting themselves in the foot, or maybe they didn't have time to do it before the release date, or maybe they just didn't feel like it. So what? Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I think it's completely erroneous to name C# as a direct successor of C. IMHO, it descends from other managed object-oriented languages like Java and Python (and borrowing from lots of other languages as well). It's C-like in name only. Plus it has curly braces, I guess. C++ was more of a syntax extension to C, whereas C# is a different paradigm altogether. Back on topic, C is not going anywhere. C++ may die out as memory management becomes less critical, but C will always be needed as long as low-level hardware control is needed.

Ask anyway. And keep asking. There needs to be a change of mindset above you before anything happens, and at least you'll put the idea in their heads, even if they reject it. At my job, we're slowly starting to transition everybody to duals, and I know it was a few persistent people who helped spread the meme.

Not sure if that was a joke. But I don't think it's true. I write code for my eyes to parse, and I can't parse long lines very easily. I suppose there might be some crappy programmers out there who never bother to read their own code, but I don't think they need two monitors to enable them.

The point that you're missing is that intelligent design is touted as science. If you want to put a wall between science and faith, that's fine. In fact, that would be awesome. Then people can say "based on faith, I believe we were designed," or "based on evidence, I believe we've been naturally selected." But ID proponents are touting their faith-based beliefs as science when they are clearly not.

I'm sorry but these tools are greatly at a loss for explaining much of what is required to explaining how people behave, how they think and how they should live.

You are absolutely correct. Science is incomplete (I would argue it's merely for a lack of data - but that'd be a faith-based argument :). If you want to use a different tool (philosophy, religion, metaphysics, etc.) to get your answers, wonderful. Use whatever tool works for you. Just don't pretend it's science if it isn't.
