If you were to buy a 720p (or whatever the resolutions are, I dont care) for 2000$, its probably legit, and you EXPECT a warranty.
If, you paid 100$ for the same TV, found out its stolen, and there's a region that doesnt have good contrast, you should have bought it from the guy in the van in the slums.
After all, when it comes to commercial and physical goods, you get what you pay for (FOSS seems to be the big exception here).
JPEGS are simple raster images. A jpeg and a bitmap are one in the same (with jpeg having good compression). Simply, it comes down to this bit is this color, this bit is this color, and this bit is this color. If you magnify raster images, you end up with blurred and horribly pixellated images that have almost no resemblance of the original.
A SVG (and similar technologies) uses vector graphics. The best way to explain this is thus: Graph a line Y=X on a xy coordinate plane. You end up with a 45 degreee angle. Now, if you were to view a portion between 0 and 10^-100(X) and 0 to 10^-100(y) it's still going to be a line. It's not going to be a stairstep pixelated crap.
Probably the best usage of SVG's would be simple images made for dramatically inbcreasing size (like icons in KDE) or other size-variation.
The only way to do pretty increasing size icons now are to shim a javascript to display 6 or so jpegs that were manually sized. These do not account for resolution on your screen.
And in reality, there's not enough CPU power to do very much at all.
The only logic you can really do with either is limited to very few cases.
The only way you could really get anything done is by providing a 802-11b network link real-time and having a general purpose computer do the heavy processing for what I'd consider a "moving I/O device".
Remember, before the merger, that Enix was making RPG's before Square.

Of all Ive played, DQ3 and 4 are probably the best. DQ7 was realllly dumbed down for US appeal here. For story, DQ 4 is one of the best stories hands down.
