"...we certainly would see Apple's remarkable market share gain next year."
Remarkable market share? Ok, I'm a Mac guy - have been for... too long, but are you kidding? 3-5% is remarkable?
Well, maybe in so much as how small it is given how good it is, but I don't think that's what you meant when you used "remarkable market share..."
It's been about six months since we took the pen and paper gaming industry's temperature.
You do know there are more than two RPG companies, right? If you're going to claim to take "the... industry's temperature," you might want to look at, you know, the industry.

How much does it cost to disguise advertisements as geek reports on slashdot? I'm sure lots of other companies would love to take advantage of something like this "report."
Kevin Britten of Hays, Kansas downloaded Somersault (Dangermouse remix) by Zero7; the 100 millionth song purchased from the iTunes music store. He will receive a 17-inch PowerBook, a 40GB iPod, and a gift certificate for 10,000 iTunes songs to create the ultimate music library for his new iPod.
All that for just 99 cents? I wish they would bring iTunes to Canada!! Even with the exchange rate, that's a deal!
For a community that is so up in arms about other people spreading FUD, I find "stories" like this to be insanely amusing. Keep up the great work guys...
Given how Slashdotters pride themselves on being well-informed geeks, I'm stunned at how much ignorance regarding the d20 System/D&D is being exhibited in this discussion. And in posts that are being rated 5, no less... We hate it when non-geeks make ignorant comments so why do we do the same thing?
Further, while it would be nice to think that the mechanics under the hood can make or break a game (because it would mean the work of game-system designers is really that damn important...), the reality is that it's the ability and work of the game designers. KotR demonstrates that a d20-controlled video game can be stellar. And there are other examples that prove that d20-controlled video game suck. It has next-to-nothing to do with the use of the d20 System as the engine for the game and everything to do with the skill of the game designers.
So I know the/. crowd loves the idea of criminal actions against Darl, including stoning, hanging, or general torture. But it isn't realistic, and I think people should learn the *legal* background of such terms if this barratry argument is to keep going around and around for another couple of years like it has so far.
This is the internet. When has becoming informed about an idea or opinion ever been a part of posting to the internet?
Incorrect. That's called price fixing and that's illegal. They can set their manufacturer suggested retail price, but stores can sell it for whatever price they want and are under no obligation to follow the MSRP.
Unfortunately, my G4 867 with 1.25 GB of ram, running OS 10.3.2 didn't fare as well.
I was forced to drop all video setting down pretty much as low as they'd go (and turn off a lot of the special effects...) and it still ran pretty choppy. And the visual quality at that point obviously sucked rocks... Admittedly, I've only got a GeForce 2MX (32 Meg) video card which is my problem (oh, it'll be a glorious day when video card makers drop their prices to respectable levels for Mac cards...), but I was impressed that Halo ran like a dream with most settings cranked up. Unfortunately, Unreal Tournament didn't...
First, Halo for Mac rocks on toast! Awesome game, in every sense. I've played it on a G5 dual, an older G4, and watched someone play it on a Titanium Powerbook, all with minimal issues (most of the time, maxed out graphics settings and it ran very well, chugging along only when there were multiple explosions and numerous opponents on screen). Awesome game. And the multi-player stuff is simply fantastic. Well-worth the purchase price, in every way.
Second, anyone who spouts off crap like "Yeah, but they deserve it because they sold out to Micro$oft!" should just be kicked in the nuts. Hard. Grow up you 2-year old infants. It's called business. Deal with it.
There are no good games for Mac? Wrong - there are excellent games for Mac (check out MacSoft's webpage to see a bunch of them, for example) and if you buy them, there will be more as publishers like MacSoft realize there really is a market for them. Steal them and those publishers will decide there's no money to be made and drop it entirely.
Sometimes geeks can be their own worst enemies.

Funny, but not quite the real thing.
A million dollar salary? No need - I'd do it for free. Mind you, I don't think Mars needs graphic designers any time soon, but if there's a volunteer sheet being passed around, I'll put my name on it.
Seriously, while it would basically be suicide, it would be the single coolest thing possible. I'd pay for the right to go...

Because it's illegal.
If you write a book, should anyone be allowed to use that text as they desire, selling their own copies of it for profit? Why is this any different?

Uh, yeah. Very simple way - do not post a message that amounts to recruitment-advertising to Slashdot...

Here and here.
Not that I'm against ragging on SCO and their stupidity, but isn't this horse dead?
NASA is to annouce that, after a long search, the WMDs have finally been found.
