VIA already has a credit-card sized motherboard for point-of-sale equipment. Maybe I'm way off here but I think the day may come where Citrix becomes a household name. Portables will be everywhere and embedded technology will drive IPv6. Network speeds will be high enough to run most applications over the wires and the software will be run from multi-terabyte servers with polycore processors. With embedded technology allowing for smaller boards, desktops will shrink dramatically. Of course, I could be totally wrong. Embedded uses specific hardware and not the diverse configurations that exist on desktops now.
I guess this would explain why people act like they're still in high school. It makes me wonder if maturity is linked to intolerance. People that tend to be racist and homophobic also seem to be more immature. But that's just my opinion.
I think this was a PR stunt by Homeland Security. It was done to convince people that the Internet should not be anonymous. They probably had a detective pose as a 14 year old.
Game makers should just cover their asses and make an agreement/disclaimer that pops up before the game can be played that says,"By pressing the button, you agree that you are playing a game and understand that any violence in the game is for entertainment purposes only. You also agree that the author is not liable for anything detrimental you do in real life as a result of playing this game." Even if people don't read it, at least the game makers won't get in trouble for it.
Of course there's the risk of cyberterrorism. But what's being done here is a scare tactict. It involves taking something real and hyping it to the point that people are so afraid that they give in. If the government is serious about cybersecurity then it needs to look at its own networks and see how insecure they are.
To people that say they have nothing to hide ask them,"What is your social security number?" "How much do you make each year?" "What is your deepest darkest fantasy?" The point is, we all have something to hide. Anyone that says they don't is a liar and a food.
If you're not doing anything wrong, why are you being watched? In prison, there is no privacy. So why then, are we who are on the outside without privacy as well? Perhaps the prison walls extend much further than we realized?
Think of this: Someone that doesn't like you works for the government. They can catch your most embarrassing, most private moments of your life and blackmail you with them.
Gonzales wants to track users on the Internet for the sake of "fighting porn". This in of itself is scary because it's not difficult to imagine the potential for abuse. Now the RIAA wants to monitor college networks for "file sharing". This could easily be manipulated to filter out certain ideas and beliefs as a means to suppress freedom of speech. It could also be used to target students for their beliefs.
Ethernet - it was and still is a standard that people could afford
NAT - It made IP networking affordable
VPN - It made remote access more feasible
Wi-fi - It gave greater freedom to network users
Microsoft may boast better security but the fact is, until it's been put under the microscope and examined by the experts, it's just marketting hype. Microsoft must be stupid if they think that hackers are going to post exploits on the beta releases. They're going to wait until the official release when it's on everyone's machines. If Microsoft really wanted to improve security, they would allow their code to be audited and tested by the experts. Just as the RIAA grades its own progress on piracy, Microsoft grades its own progress on security.
I'm a huge coward? I'm not the one that's posting anonymously. And Bush is in cahoots with Bin Laden anyway. You're really naive enough to believe that 9/11 was unprovoked? You poor soul.
If you wouldn't give your life for freedom, you hardly deserve it.
You make it sound as if we're a free country. There's no point in dying for something that doesn't exist. The Patriot Act defeats your precious Constitution. And the Constitution was written by a bunch of rich, racist, sexist white men. It's pretty sad that in a free country women and blacks had to fight for freedom. Go back to watching your manipulated news stories and believing the lies as truths.

And the fact that my parent remark was modded overrated is proof that they're trying to hide the truth.
The American people are being lied to and they simply accept it.
So what else is new? They call it nationalism for a reason.
The only way to get out of the current predicament is to seek a truce with Bin Laden. He has his sleepers right here on our own soil. It's like someone planting land mines in your own back yard and you're about to have a cook out. To stop the lemmmings from attacking, the piped piper must agree to stop playing his flute. And that means swallowing our pride and accepting that Bin Laden has us right where he wants us. Personally, if it prevents innocent people from dying, I'm all for it. People say that they don't negotiate with terrorists. Well guess what, terrorism means to hold a nation hostage. People negotiate hostage situations. This is no different. America is being held hostage and alot of innocent lives hang in the balance.

SKYNET not only simulated a virus but it actually infected computer systems.

You can't compare Bush to Hitler because Hitler at least knew what the hell he was doing.
Microsoft, a company notorious for bloatware, does something to speed up users' computers.
Does that mean they'll finally get a quality control department?

America's done alot worse than that.
I'm talking about innocent people on both sides. Both sides have children that are dying.
