Try View - Show Groups, that give some of the functionality that you are looking for. Ya, i wish ichat had like a blue icon or so for people that are on mobile phones.
The reason why apple was able to build a user friendly Unix for the desktop is because most of the work was already done for them when they bought NeXT and decided to base OS X on NeXT. That is not to say they couldn't have done it otherwise, but it certinly gave them a jump start.
Have you thought about using iChat instead of AIM? iChat rocks AIM massively..especially iChat AV..nothing like free phonecalls halfway across the globe.
you know you can play doom2 all nice and opengl'ed right? Then you would only need to boot up that machine for a bsod:) http://legacy.newdoom.com/legacy.shtml
Yes, you can, very easily too.
Goto System Prefrences -> Sharing (under Internet and Network) -> Internet Tab -> Start. And you can setup what you want to let through. Im not sure if you can forward ports this way (for a web server on a different machine) but, it will share the internet.
I agree with everything except that 17inch toshiba being sweet. It looks like total crap compared to 17inch powerbook that it copied from. Not to mention how massive the thing is...
I remeber hearing talk about an IBM PPC 970 (g5) workstaion. IBM want's more of the community to help with Linux on PowerPC, so making a semi-afordable linux power box would defiently be a way to get that, espically if it runs linux out of the box. I know I would buy one..as would a lot of other linux geeks.
Man, imagine how much it would cost just to get a CS degree..1000 - 2000 dollars to run each program on your desktop that you wrote. Im sorry, but I don't even have enough money for a single DRM "authentication let alone enough for each program that I write...and 1000 - 2000 dollars is not economically viable for open source developers when most projects have zero money to work with.
wow..that is quite offten. I live in southern california (just south of la), wasn't effected by the rolling blackouts a few years ago and havn't lost power in over *checks server uptime* 307 days. I think I would go insane if I lived where the power went out every 2 -3 minutes just because the ups beeping at me.
I use XFS for my mysql server, granted it is just a home LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP)/Samba server, it has been running great for 287 days. My guess is that most filesystems would work just fine for a database, minus ext2 (mainly because if the power goes out a few times, you are pretty much screwed)
the only problem I have with techno anymore, is that it is very hard for me to find a) something I havn't heard a million times befor or b) something that dosn't sing about sex0ring/other planets and general raver extasy feelings of the sort. I mean, I don't want to be blaring music about some bitch going off to another word sex0ring your best friend.
You can returned opened games, just tell them it wouldn't work on your machine and that you think it might have been a bad copy, and want an exchange, then come back the next day/later in the day and return it (unopened of course). I know this works, I have done it with games(Tribes2)/oses(WinXP,Redhat 6.2 Pro,OS X.1) (and no, I DIDN'T burn a copy of them while I had them)

actually, as I recall, apple took an anti-DRM stance a while back..I think i read it somewhere on /.
In that case you can count me as a terrorist. You can pry my floss sofware from my cold dead hands!
Gentoo may not be a company, but 3 Gentoo Technologies, Inc is.

I think every OSS/FS developer ought to have access to a copy of Windows.
And I nominate you to pay for it.

and since when did we start caring about the EULA?
Did you remember to hit the power button?
now why would you want to die for it? then you couldn't use it...talk about taking one for the team! CoolMoDee
