I have to wonder why you'd bother reading a story in the games section. I also wonder as to your feeling when you posted that. Was there a hint of smug self-satisfaction going on? Did you feel like a superior geek?
I've haven't seen a manufacturer specific control panel for display devices under Windows since 2000. All I've done under XP is plug the monitor in and typically that's it. What kind of weird hardware are you using that does this?
Is it used to compromise the system? No. It's used as copy protection. Obviously, you want to attach emotionally charged terms to make it seem worse than it is.
I'm actually starting to get sick of hearing about this, Great, don't play it. Do you and all the other nerdcool "ethical" types want a cookie or something? It's starting to look like masturbation to me.
Yeah, that'll happen. People pirate the music (movies, software, what have you) in vast quantities because they want it, they enjoy it, and it suits their purpose. It's not like most people have some special love of the legal freedom. They just want a lot of free entertainment.
God, I love reading these justifications and suggestions. It's wonderfully bankrupt, in a moral sense, and at the same time the proponents claim the moral high ground. Cognitive dissonance at its finest.
This isn't crucial at all. On one side you have a group of people who invest time, money, sweat, and tears to create a product for consumption by the masses, and on the other side you have a group of people who want that product for free and will plumb any depths of rhetorical retardavism to justify it. Basically, it's greed vs. greed. I settled on supporting the guys who actually did something as being more deserving of the rewards.
Oh, save me the bullshit. This is no more about "backups" then custom firmware on a game console. The MPAA realistically doesn't give a shit about the usage scenarios you've described. They just don't want people distributing their movies online.
Copyright is defined in the Constitution, brainiac. Don't let learning something impede your continuing infringement of that right in the name of flexibility though, I'm sure you'd actually pay if only you weren't ethically bankrupt and willing to justify with lies about delivery options.
Yeah, let's stick it to those dirty bastards who want to be paid for producing the content everyone else wants for free. I see where the MPAA has the ethics problem here.
It's only disingenuous if you're on the side of the pirates. Naturally, I'd expect such a stance here.
After all, who cares about the Constitutionally protected rights to control distribution? What use is that in the face of overwhelming demand for free shit?
Assuming for a moment I don't like V for Vendetta (a fair assumption, I found it to be awful) they've made three movies since The Matrix. I'm sort of shocked I had to spell that out for you, since you had the list right in your post, but I'm happy to provide such services to the cognitively challenged.
Also, I am smoking Camel Turkish Silver. Don't see the relevance, but I'm happy to answer you.
Does anybody still pay attention to these guys? I mean, okay, people seemed to like The Matrix (although I never understood why) but everything since then has been uniformly awful. It seems like hitting on some lottery numbers and then playing those same numbers every day for the rest of your life in the misguided belief that they have some special odds of hitting again.
So American men aren't overwhelmingly Muslim and they don't overwhelmingly beat their wives. Did you have a point, or were you just being a pain in the ass?
Is this non-story going to get reposted until someone actually gives a fuck? I'll give 3-1 odds that it takes 5 more times if anyone wants some action.

Yes! Workers unite! WE are ENTITLED to our jobs!
Well then don't use the service.
Jeez, you people really like stirring up shit in clean water.

Two questions:
1) Who the hell does that now?
2) Who gets to decide what is essentially matters of opinion?
Can you give me a reasonable explanation as to why I should be sensitive to your (potentially fake) problem? I can't think of one.
You mean Europeople have to manually set the time? I think you're lying.

And really, it pretty much is.
Except it's not a rootkit. Jeez, you people are really demonstrating the power of misinformation.

Yes, sure, but you're one person with a probable paranoia. Other people like having the number stored.

My statement does not conflict with yours either.
This is nice, it's like Slashdot only happy and sweet.

If I liked bland I would have been into their movies.

May I inquire as to why selling software is evil?

It's not often I say this to quasi-anonymous strangers who are probably male, but I love you.
