    I fail to see how we leapt from outsourcing to becoming a 3rd world country. Exagerate much?

    And I certainly dont need my own job to make money to pay for those goods and services.

    In case you haven't noticed, nobody owes you a job, and the US constitution doesn't guarantee you a job. Sorry about that, but if the guy next door (or next country) can do what you do for less, it's a no-brainer that an employer will go with the guy next door. I guess you object to price-shopping, don't you?

    Bullshit. Every time I insert a CD on my Fedora workstation at work it appears on the desktop.

    And that works for the external usb cd-rw too.

    Ok, you can flame me (as if I would deny you that) but I don't think Linux zealots are in any position to say that windows is any less bloated than Linux. Mandrake 10.0 community from just yesterday's is 2.1 gigabytes (re: torrent), most of which is unnecessary for 95% use. Suppose I manage to start the install from CD1 without having CD2 or CD3, well I *hope* there's not a package required by default that is on CD2 or CD3

    First off, I think you meant "linux is any less bloated than windows".

    and THEN, Mdk10 comes with A SHITLOAD OF APPS. How much space does it take a CD to install windows, and a couple of webservers, and a couple of database engines, and three or four desktop environments (oh wait... that choice doesn't exist in windows), games, two office suites, development packages (gcc, perl, python, you name it), file servers, news servers, mail servers, etc.

    and again, I just installed Debian on a server. 170MB. Current versions of windows don't fit 170MB compressed.

    I'm sorry, but saying bloat is in the size of the install media forces me to call bullshit.

    OSS does not imply good quality software. The OSS process gives a few key advantages in generating good quality software, but doesn't guarantee it. So you comment on one failed one. Care to try a successful one? A great player, that works and LOOKS the same on both windows and linux, oh my!

    Besides, the beauty of the interface is how it is designed for your hands, not your pointing device. How do you get feedback and all that on a touchscreen, be it with your fingers or worse, with a PDA-pencil...

    This article starts of with a complete untruth by stating that this "Purchase" is "key legal ammunition". It is no such thing has it will not have relevance in the court case so is more propaganda ammunition than anything.

    But your honor, four people have bought my H.ERB@AL V.I.A.G.R.A, so how can this be quack? Clearly, the plaintiff has no case saying I am a snake oil merchant / con man!

    Yes. But the command itself is not localized ("cd = change directory"). There is no localized command "zk = zmien katalog".

    Ah, but it is "cd" = "cambiar directorio". ;)

    And how is it different from a localized CLI? Ever hear of a little term called "i18n"?

    As for technical terms, that's going to scare somebody who doesn't know it, wether it's in his language or not. ("procesos" is as scary to my mother as "processes").

    Hmm, you have no beef with bundling, but you use Firefox?

    Nopes, I don't. Because I CAN use Firefox. And, some time ago, I used IE to download mozilla 1.x that was then passed on through my computers/reinstalls. I would have needed to go through quite a ordeal if I wasn't a computer-savvy person if I had had to get Mozilla without resorting to the included browser.

    As I said, my beef is with the depth of IE and WMP roots in the OS. That gives MS the power to make things work "just right" only when you use their products. And makes my choice of using Firefox to be annoying sometimes.

    As for forcing MS to PROVIDE OTHER PEOPLE'S SOFTWARE? Somehow, that doesn't sound right. Now, if having IE installed meant you can't install firefox... that'd be another crock o' shit completely, and one that I'd have major beef with.

    No shit. At the computer science dept, we spoke with Sun and Dell, and ended up going with sun, as they threw us not only the servers at outrageous discount but also a bunch of workstations to sweeten the deal...

    You mean, the guy at the counter actually PUTS SUGAR ON THE COFFEE BEFORE HE HANDS IT TO YOU?

    Over here (Chile) they hand you packets of sugar. Anybody(*) who decides for me how much sugar I want in anything gets a can of whoop-ass opened upon them.

    Cocaine, OTOH, is the highly refined and processed form of the coca leaves. Maybe it isn't coffee the word you are looking for but caffeine?

    I have no beef with bundling. I wouldn't bat an eye if Windows kept bundling IE and WMP.

    My beef starts when the frigging IE and WMP are so deeply entrenched in the OS. I would stop half my MS bashing if, when you fire up the "Add/Remove programs", you get IE and WMP among normal apps. And when you wish to uninstall them, it works.

    Clicked links outside the broswer will randomly open in IE, open in a new Firefox window or the same Firefox window I was browsing in. And that sucks.

    Don't stop bundling. Stop TANGLING and BOGGING.

    That's how it is with computers. I'm sure any mechanic who loves cars would wish people learned more and took better care of their cars. That's how I see a lot of linux people act.

    No, because of a lot of factors:

    People who don't take good care of their cars don't boggle down the internet or send me spam.

    People don't expect mechanics to work for free, or assume their car malfunctions because it's a car.

    But I still can't get my built-on-mobo ProSavage-DDR working with XFree 4.3.

    This is normal. It doesn't work with Windows either.

    (I've seen lousy motherboards, and THEN the Pro-Savage chipset ones... man, what a pile of steaming crap)

    Great support. I have a FX5600 (piece of shit, I know, I know). I ran Gentoo, and you can configure wheter maximize uses one or two screens. Sold the monitors since so I didn't get the chance to try it on another distro, but I'm guessing it'd be the same, being XFree and the nvidia drivers all that was involved.

    I think that, if you want something to beat/equal the Radeon 9800 pro, you'd be looking at a FX5950 ultra or something like that.

    (wish I could spend that much on a vidcard)

    Newsflash: That's exactly how it works. People from both governments get together. Work out a lot of details. When the proposition is cool with both parties, THEN it must go through congress on BOTH countries. Otherwise, the prez would be able to sign the country in whatever he feels like, without any oversight.

    At least, that's how the FTA with Chile worked like.
