The new Mandrake does have apt-get like ability, at least for those wanting to be on the bleeding edge. The newly updated MandrakeUpdate utility will allow you to keep up-to-date with the latest cooker rpms (cooker is Mandrake's public beta, always a work in progress).
I'm posting this from the 7.2 beta now, and I really like the improvements to the distro so far (the lilo graphical screen, the improved MandrakeUpdate utility, and the enhancements to the installer).
Surprisingly, the X server worked out of the box for my geforce2 card, at least for 2-D.
If you are really able to accelerate these sails by a couple of g, then would it be possible to accelerate a payload through the atmosphere into orbit?
I'm a KDE user who likes Gnumeric. How would you compare the two in terms of features and stability? If Gnumeric is much more advanced than KSpread, would the KDE organization consider integrating it into KOffice as the default spreadsheet app?
How about using Python (or for that matter perl) with one of the GUI toolkit bindings? Can you use them for "serious" apps, maybe writing in parts that need speed in C?
BTW, I had a chance to meet Card in Chicago for a book signing a while back. He's a great guy, and this movie has an excellent chance to be a great one.

All in all, I think it looks great. I decided to keep the dock, though. You have to chose which applicons you want on the dock, and which on the panel.
One question. I don't like how WM makes icons for apps that are not iconified. How do I tell it not to do that?
How should one's.xinitrc be configured to get WM running under KDE? Is it just adding a/opt/kde/bin/startkde to your.xinitrc, and then editing/opt/kde/bin/startkde (as superuser) from exec kwm to exec wmaker?
To install, say, Quicken, do I first need to install Windows, then install Quicken under windows, then get back into Linux and then run Quicken under WINE?
Hmmm didn't even get a chance to D/L pre3

Linux 2.2.0 pre4

I downloaded pre-2 and patched to pre-3. Patches are tiny downloads; people should use them!

I meant: could a powerful laser (or maser if microwave) be used to launch a payload into space.
I can see that you'd not only want it to go up (since it would just fall down), but also start to revolve around the earth.

... so I'm very hopeful. (You can download some of the script. See OSC's news update about the movie.

I really like Mandrake 5.3, and am looking forward to 6.0.
With egcs becoming the new GNU compiler, does anyone know if this is the default compiler for this distro?

... but I'm glad that there are instructions here about upgrading.
I'm still a little concerned about using Slink with parallel port printers and kernel 2.2.x. Any documentation on the Debian site?
How do you get the transparent Xterms in KDE?
Do you have to download a new SRPM every time a new one comes out, or is there some way to patch an SRPM?

I've gotten multiple copies of Netscape, and at least a dozen xterms.
Can I manually remove the file that keeps track of your last session? Where is it?
What order should we compile these in?

Or can WINE run the installer (Quicken, in my example) and put the program files in some ext2 directory?

Do you need to apply all of the pre patches in succession, or back out and apply the patch to 2.1.132?
