Am I the only one thinking maybe the thing just malfunctioned (most likely due to battle damage), and just started moving and bouncing off walls until it ended up in the parking lot? What if the thing ended up in a bathroom or kitchen, would we be reading a story about how the robot thought it needed to take a piss or got hungry?
no it wouldn't, you could have a sheet of metal full of smaller than 1/4 wavelength holes, and it would be shielded. btw, a wavelength at 2.4ghz is 13cm, so those are some pretty big holes.
is a bit of an odd concept, but even more strange is that they only have it allowed when a movie *isn't* playing... who hangs out in a theater when there's no movie on?
With 95 stories on wireless this year so far,/. is very wireless happy, shouldn't this merit it's own category? I notice there's a wireless(apple) topic, but there are so many other wireless products besides the apple airport...
if the authors get the royalty payment when the book is sold the first time, why should they get royalties for each time the book is sold after that? this would be akin to chevy collecting a profit every time anyone sold their old nova.
Awesome, I had the exact same idea, and want to eventually do it with http://melbwireless.dyndns.org but most everyone that I told about my idea either didn't understand it or thought I was crazy. you get a couple dozen people with modems and you have a megabit connection to the net. sounds cool to me... shrug.
If you just try to download the path to the mp3 with like netscape it gives you a mp3 that says sorry, use a streaming only client. So I wrote a little script to use wget to spoof the winamp user agent and that seemed to work about half the time, and isn't working at all now, im not sure what kind of checks they had going. Hows everyone else do it?

MAC's can easilly be spoofed, and to sniff the network you can do it passively, so the MAC check isn't even going to come into play

Looks like zdnet took the story down, good call I say
Very unprofessional of Slashdot... I'm sure if any zdnet reporters behaved like roblimo they'd surely be fired.
