dna that encodes protien synthesis is largely the same, although obviously arranged differently in the chromosomes. that 97.5 match figure is spread all through the genome - a gene that encodes the same thing in mice and man could be located at entirely different positions.
The company I work for http://www.jax.org/ maintains over 2,000 straings of laboratory mice for sale to other research institutions (we do genetics research and are designated a national cancer center, the 69 million dollar a year mouse business all started by selling surplus mice to other researchers, now it's a large part of the company and there has been discussion about spinning it off as a for-profit subsidiary. Right now, since all the surplus funds from the mouse business go directly towards supporting the research, we enjoy a tax-free status). We have models for diabetes, glaucoma, aids, certain cancers, adult onset obesity, etc. In experiments that involve drug testing, the only real difference (after you factor in mass differences) between mice and humans is how fast the mice metabolize the drugs.
I live in Maine - Portland has a Tim Hortons, as do many of the nothern comunities. We have low crime, great local beers, and hockey in the winter. Health care isn't much of an issue - if you have a decent job, you'll have insurance. Portland and Bangor have large hospitals, and Boston is close for high-risk or rare surgeries. Maine recently created DirigoChoice - health care coverage designed for self-employed or compaines with less than 50 employees - enrolees recieve discounts based on income/family size and discounts can be up to 100%.
I happen to work at a very large genetic research facility (the worlds largest mammalian genetics research institution) located in a very beautiful part of maine. I live in Bangor - one of the safest small cities in the country. And houses in the city are reasonably priced - I looked at a 2000 square foot 4 bed room house for $160,000, and it just needed an updated kitchen and some new color schemes. This was in a in town neighborhoot established in the 50s so it only had about.11 acres of land. A big house in a new subdivision with.5+ acres will run 250,000 - 400,000. Things are even more afordable if you move just 15 minutes away.
don't forget your UPS is going to convert AC to DC, then it has to convert the DC power to AC to distribute to the servers which then take that AC and convert it to DC. When you're running off battery you can skip a DC to AC to DC conversion (instead you can get DC straight from the battery, and feed DC into the servers)
There are plenty of places in America that have a low cost of living.
I live in Maine, make about 70k after being out of grad school for one year, and pay 600/month for an apartment in Maine's 3rd largest city http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangor%2C_ME (a very small city population wise - about 33k today, but with a huge geographic metro area - this is the economic/service center for an area larger than Rhode Island. Maine's kind of a strange place.
OK, I read TFA and they are using an open source implementation of MPI2 (MPICH2). Maybe the summary should have mentioned that... but I guess unless you're a cluster guy like me it doesn't really matter which MPI they used.
OK, so I didn't RTFA, but MPI is just a standard. There are open and closed source implementations of said standard. They can include a MPI library, and it doesn't necessarily mean that they are including open source software.
I'm posting this again, because like an idiot I posted it with no formatting the first time
I wouldn't say they are equvalent. The US probably just has more ratings:
Early Childhood (EC) 3+
Everyone (E) - 6+
Everyone 10+ (E10+)
Teen (T) 13+
Mature (M) 17+
Adults Only (AO)
Some of your 15 games might end up as T, and others might end up as M in the States.

I just got back from the UK and paid 17.5% VAT on my purchases (a lot of small purchases so I didn't get to reclaim it). Compared to my state's 5% sales tax (7% on lodging and restaraunts), that is significantly higher and it affects more than just the wealthy...
I've never had a 'real job' (a job since I graduated college) that hasn't given me a minnimum of 3 weeks of paid vacation.
However, I know Europeans that get quite a bit more than me. Also, I was just on vacation to England and I met an Australian that was on a 6 week European vacation, but I'm not sure if that is typical for those of you down under.
what about prior art? So you can't afford to patent, and therefore you don't get exclusive rights to the invention... that doesn't necessarily someone else can pantent it, right? Sure they could make a knock-off, but they shouldn't be able to patent it and then sue
Women in Maine have top-free equity (legally they can be top-free anywhere a man can - beach, park, city pool, etc). It isn't very common though.
Also a judge dropped indecent exposure charges on two college women that ran around a block naked one night -- the judge ruled that Maine law required exposing genitals and female genitals are not externally visible. They talked about changing the law, but I don't know if they ever did.
I was just in montreal and I was fairly surprised how strict the rules were in the strip clubs (although the contact dance rules are more liberal that a lot of clubs in the States, there are also quite a few clubs in the States that blow away the montreal clubs in terms how much contact is allowed)
what I didn't understant is bars/strip clubs said we weren't allowed to buy shots unless we were drinking beer
Apple will not ship a universal binary OS X, however they will ship ppc and intel versions of least the next two versions of OS X. All the apps that come with the OS will probably not be universal binaries either - they will be compiled specifically for the target platform. Now add on apps like iLife will most likely come as universal binaries for the next couple versions.

The Skippers.
It isn't a vacuum, it's just nearly dust free.
The Integrated Woz Machine was named after the Woz, but it was designed by someone else.

what if Apple Computer bought Apple Records (or Apple Music or whatever the're called)?

It can decrease their revenues because people will buy fewer extra lego blocks to complete their project.
Tiger got rid of Classic, right?

Thank god I live in a Blue State. (However, many parts of Maine could be considered the 'deep south' of New England)
Well, I think that Appl...BUFFERING [12%]...
sorry for the typos... i injured a finger so I have to type with one less finger than usual.
