This may sound redundant, but I don't care. RedHat did not have to do anything at all, they did something that nobody else WOULD do. Not the FSF, not Debian, not even IBM(yet...). If you think RedHat still owes you something...you can go fuck yourself. RedHat is doing what needs to be done for the entire Linux(and OSS) community.
See Bruce, these are the types of stories you need to post more often. Straight to the point, with a happy ending...somewhat. (BTW, favorite quote ever, "You'd think you were on drugs...but thats what REALLY happened.")
I am going to send out letters to everybody that owns a keyboard. They can be used to steal my service, and THAT IS THEFT! You all need to settle. I am willing to accept $2400 for each keyboard you own.
Parent port seriously needs to get modded +1 Interesting. Think about it for a minute, this could definately prove the new law in CA. You know damn well that at LEAST one site in CA will be hacked. Maybe a bit offtopic, but the point is still very valid for this article.
That's right, 'us' did mean residents of the USA. If you were the type of person that would exploit this, do you think you would you try to fake the ID of a non-US citizen? Tell me honestly, what would be the point?
Go ahead and "-1 Flamebait" me, I think my point is simple and reasonable.
How many of us actually HAVE passports anyways? Last time I checked, you didn't need a passport to fly within the US, to buy a car, to rent a movie...big deal I say.
This article is fairly interesting, due to all of the comments that have been added. There are quite a few articles today, some much more interesting and worthwhile then this, however, this article has gotten the most comments. Why is that you ask? More then likely, this will affect a large portion of us(admit it...you know who you are), a wireless network in Palo Alto will not affect [most of] us. Tells you alot about yourselves, doesn't it?
I wonder what that limit is though, a co-worker and I were talking today, and we realized that if we're sharing x amount, others must be sharing hundreds of gigs of MP3's in order to have gotten on "the list".
It's actually kinda funny if you click that link. The title bar says, "MSN Search: Linux -- More Useful Everyday."
What happens when you type `./configure`?
"gcc > 3.1.1 needed" (version number and error not accurate)
What about when you `make install`?
It creates directories and moves the files into the correct place.
On top of all that, you're absolutely right, RPMs, debian packages, (let's jump out of Linux for a moment) What about Install Shield?
This is an obvious misuse of the patent system, even a non techie can spot this in a heartbeat.
"Method and system for installing software on a computer system"
Patent granted September 9th, 2003 to Microsoft Corp, Redmond WA.
Yeah, thats what *I* said...

And guess who it was?
Somebody get my tinfoil hat, quick!
Mod parent up. Based solely on .sig
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=oops /me waits for the karma to come rolling in.(Hey, at least it wasn't an "Imagine a beowulf cluster" gag)
Sorry, in true /. spirit, I had to point that out to you.(I was thinking it too when I read it though)
This is an obviously modified version of the original, if anyone mods this up, you aren't very bright.
I share mine with Slackware. Top that!

I would like to take this time to publically say, "Fuck John Markoff".

"Debra Bowen, which was killed yesterday ..."
That's a bit misleading, wouldn't you say?
Go ahead and "-1 Flamebait" me, I think my point is simple and reasonable.
I was simply pointing out that a majority of us do not have(or need) a passport and it seems the author failed to realize/mention that.
How many of us actually HAVE passports anyways? Last time I checked, you didn't need a passport to fly within the US, to buy a car, to rent a movie...big deal I say.
Imagine a Beowulf cluster ... nevermind.
